the trouble is i don,t seem to be able to log off,its like groundhog day,any ideas.

Don't feel alone. I can't log off either. I tried dumping cookies, power reset, etc. to no avail.
I guess if Jim doesn't mind, I won't worry about it.

Yes for the record no one "needs" to logoff. The server automatically is tracking your requests while on the site. You stay on the Front Gate as long as you continue to make requests. After about 5 minutes you disappear. Of course it LOOKS to you like you never disappear because as soon as you hit refresh you have sent new requests, been logged, and now appear on the list. 
Logging off just kills the permanent "user" cookie on your PC that automatically logs you back on when you re-visit the site.
