I was thinking about buying this old movie but wanted to know if it is worth the $9.99 price?

Yeah, I would say it is worth the ten bucks. I own it. The battle scenes are not very historically accurate but it is still a pretty good flick. Worth the 10 just for the monologue at the beginning as far as I'm concerned.

Jody...
Buy the movie, you won't be dissapointed...Although keep in mind that it is a " Hollywood Production", over glamorized a bit, and alot of his life is left out of the flick...But it is a good watch, believe me, and well worth the ten bucks...

George C Scott's portrayal of George S Patton is materful and it is no wonder why he won best actor. The battle scenes are 70's Hollywood, M-48's painted gray and acting as Tigers, Chaffee's as Shermans - BUT the action is well done and fairly realistic. I paid $10 for my copy and when I need inspiration I'll watch the opening.

If you want to spend a little more money it is X-mas time you know.

Get the WWII Collection ....

A four-movie box set of classic World War II films: THE LONGEST DAY, PATTON, THE THIN RED LINE and TORA, TORA, TORA

I've seen it only at deepdiscountdvd for $36.59

All of those film are worth having in a war movie collection. As for Patton it is one of my favorite movies, even if it is historicly full of errors.

I have to agree with the others. It's not the best movie out there but definatly worth 10 bucks. George C. Scott really got into his character. It helps make up for all that the rest of the movie is laking.

As long as you remember the movie is about Patton the man and not about the battles that Patton fought you won't be disappointed. I often wonder how close to life the George C Scott character plays Patton.

It is one of my favorite movies of all time. Well worth the money. I just wish they would have made Bradley a less lovable character because the more I read about him the more of a schmuck I think he was.................... (:-)
