Hm, and I thought that kits were expensive in Belgium... turns out we are on cheap side of the scale. But... now that the $ is low, the US starts to become interesting even with shipping included.

And for us continental Europeans who don´t have the GBP symbol on the keyboard, how do I create that???

Had hours of fun using one trying to write stuff while I was working in France. Qs everywhere.

Finding the @ symbol when do e-mail addresses was always a challenge.

A 1/35th scale Tamiya New Jersey sells for P1,800...a good price for a ship model at this scale. That is equal to around $ 31.58.

A 1:35 Battleship?? For $ 31?? I'll have one, but my garden is not big enough to display it... :-) :-)

Cheers

Hmm...you should try to come here in the Philippines and buy a few kits here.

Presently, the rate is P57 pesos to $ 1 US dollar.

My Academy Panzer Kit costs P440, an average cost for a kit here. That is equal to $7.72 dollars.

A DML Nashorn Kit that I'm planning to buy costs P 890, considered to be quite expensive here. That is equal to $15.00.

A 1/35th scale Tamiya New Jersey sells for P1,800...a good price for a ship model at this scale. That is equal to around $ 31.58.

The 1/32 scale Tamiya F-15 is sold here for around P5,000. That is extremely expensive for us. But it would just be P87.72 for you.

The only downside is that model building is a relatively young hobby here in the Philippines. So you may find out that most of the kits here are also sold and available there in your countries.

I got to agree with her. I can buy any kit here almost half the price of online stores! :-)

An AMT or a Revell/Monogram 1/24-1/25 scale car kit cost about 10 $ in USA, when it hit's the stores in Denmark it will cost 40$. Another rip off.

Sorry for the typo. It's supposed to be 1/350.

I order from Rainbow Ten Hobbies in Japan, they've got real good prices on Tamiya, Hasegawa, Skywave/Pitroad, basically, all of the Japanese producers. Shipping is reasonable, and it takes about 5-7 days for it to arrive here in the states.

Gouging prices on Ebay for shipping is a pet peeve of mine...I recently won a Verlinden 120mm US GI weapons (which is out of production) for $6.50...the guy was in Texas, and wanted $12.00 for shipping standard ground rate!! Needless to say, I prepaid the shipping (via UPS) and sent him a MO in a box. He probably wasn't happy about it, but it cost me $6 to mail the empty box and have it mailed back. At that point, it's a matter of principle.

The best are some of the overseas sellers...they'll sell a kit for 50% of the retail, but charge you more for shipping, only to find it cost them a fraction of that to actually ship it. There's someone on Ebay right now selling 1/16 T-34s for $58US, but $45US shipping.
