It is really hard to see what is going on. I think it's a Pershing. How about stepping farther away and using the zoom to get a closeup. It usually works better than trying to get real close to take a pic

a couple of bits of advice..

#1 if the camra has a macro function.. turn it on.

#2 get a small tripod the sell 6" ones fairly cheap. that is if your camra has a place on the bottom to screw it on.

#3 use the self timer option after you place the camra on the tripod.. when taking pictures of small details the slight wavering of the camra in your hand is enough to blur the photos....

#4 there is an excellent article in the Features gallery on using digital camera's

good luck...

Francois,

one more comment; The floral print on the fabric that the tank is sitting on isn't a real good backdrop and makes it more difficult to see the detail of the model and paint job. i suggest a white backdrop or at least a solid, light color.

Howdy 3442,

".... i finaly have pics of my work in my gallery:)..."

If this is the "work" you're talking about......it looks like it really hurt!...

Just kiddin' ya Francois. I agree with the comments you've already gotten. I had a really bad camera also, and your pictures are better than the ones I took, believe me.
As Frag said, keep the background (anything behind your main subject matter) plain, and avoid colour conflict.
Use a cheap tripod (I saw one at Best Buy for $11.), and since you don't have zoom or macro, concentrate on your composition, meaning, pay attention to everything that is in the 'frame' of the picture.
hth.

Now as to your vignettes. I have some questions. Is that newly fallen snow on the hull of the tanks, or has the snow been melting? Have these tanks been sitting in that position for awhile, or did they just get there? Has anybody (one of the crew, or infantry) passed by, or gotten in or out of the vehicle?
Do you kind of see where I'm going?
From what I can see from your photos you've done some dandy work. Addressing some of the questions I just posed to you will add that extra touch of realism that will set you apart.

Tread.

I think you did a great job. Just keep in mind that with time and patience comes improvement. The fact that you're building models and sharing the results with your comrades in the model building world is great - keep it up!!

As far as your dio's go, I especially like the prototype ballisitc missle in the background of some of your photos....it's the latest "V" weapon isn't it....the BREEZE Ausf. 1 (Luftwaffe code word for 'flying laundry iron' wasn't it)? The paint scheme is great, the decals are perfect. I see that it's upright in it's final pre-launch configuration and you've even managed to accurately portray the firing cables attached to the base of this little-know nazi rocket.

HaHaHaHaHa .......just kidding you! I think it's great to see your work and please send in more of it when you can.

Howdy 3442,

Glad you have a sense of humour, it's a bloody good thing to have around here. I'm also glad you appreciate honest, creative input regarding your dio.

To expand, the reason I asked about whether the snow was new fallen, or had melted to achieve the 'spotty' coverage on the hull surfaces, is because if it's done any melting you would need to add some water marking, or ice surrounding the islands of snow on the hull.
The reason I asked about whether the tank had just arrived or not, is because I see no indication of recent tracks in the snowy ground behind the tank.
The reason I ask about troop/crew activity, is because there would be some evidence of footprints in the snow, and even possibly something left outside the tank, like last nights small cookstove......
You're dio looks fine, I would just think about some of these ingredients and add or subtract from your dio based on your decisions.
One last small suggestion.
Your dio looks fine, but IMHO lacks two things. A focal point, and a sense of 'motion' or activity. Again, IMHO when modeling a military diorama or vignette, in most cases a sense of 'action' elevates the interest level generated by the display. Unless you're modeling a sniper who is hidden or in a Ghilli (sp?) suit, most times 'action', or at least a sense of 'livibility' is a fundamental ingredient.

Remember, 'Life' and especially military life is not made up of a series of Still Life paintings.........

Tread.

oh, BTW......it's "Tread", not "Thread.......I'm always surprised at how many people do that...........

Francois,

I am talking about photos "Pershing001" and "Pershing003" in particular. It looks like the pics were taken on top of an ironing board with a floral cover. The colorful floral pattern is a distraction and "hides" some of the detail of the model. I hope this helps.

Frag: THATS WHAT YOU MEANT! well if it is, il jsut stick to breeze rocket about to be launched theory no but i took the pics there because its the only place in my house with enougth sun.

Treadhead: there are tracks... i planted the trees and all before mackign my snow so i had one hell of a hard time doign the tracks!!! trust me! they're there! and same for the foot prints, there present also. its jsut the cam isnt good enought to focus ( it needs a zoom!) for the action i agree, i need to incorporate more figures. do you liek hte tiger dio? the way hte troops are moving? iam thinking about adding the sherman in my gallery in as a destroyed tank ( its my first tank, and i recently re-painted it) and i might add some figures to the pershing dio, not too sure yet.

as you can see i liek snow dios.. i liek hte way all the green stands out.

Thanks for the great encouragement guys,
keep the comments! PLEASE!
