As a legal alien living in England, one thing you do miss is decent beer.... ( that will get this tread going ) I bought some nice bottles of Leffe Bruin today, which I'm enjoying as we speak, or should that be type... I just finished work, and intend to finish the lasht boddle bevore I go to bed. I don't drink very often anymore ( it's true, it comes to us all....) so if I become incoherend in my last few replys, i appologies in advance. :-)

I love this site, I really do :-) :-)

Belgian beer is goooood. I have tasted a lot of very good British beer and a few days ago I tasted my first Russian beer, which was quit good.

Cheers

Cuvée De Koninck is the best I can find in Dallas but I sampled a Westmalle Tripple once in Belgium and wish I could find it over here in the US.

Yeah, I used to think like that, but these days the hang overs take longer to go away......
Belgian Beers are just very nice and smooth, but you should be careful not to drink to many, the dubble and tripple (bottle conditioned) ones have a potent kick, which doesn't really register untill it's to late......

My favourite Belgian beer : Verboden Vrucht
Dutch beer : La Trappe dubbel
Dutch lager : GROLSH
British Ale : Many, but Hobgoblin springs to mind as does Wadworth 6X, Directors, and most local ales from a keg behind the bar.

And I would have to dispute that - you must not have beers such as Old Milwaukee or Pabst Blue Ribbon over in the UK

Easy, I'll trade you a case of Crapst Blue Ribbon, Schaeffer, Sh(l)itz, or Millwaukee's Beast For a case of Watney's Red Barrel any day of the week! Just tell me where to send it!

Ahahahahaha

Logan's Dad, what part of NC are you in? I'll be out there next week at Lejeune for a USO event I helped organize then off to Raleigh (Morrisville) to visit one of my developers.

I heard N Carolina BBQ is some good stuff. I'm looking forward to it since I have never been out there

Easy, i had a mate who shipped on the H.M.S. Argyll. Every year they would dock in Wilmington NC on the Cape Fear River. Without fail, he would duly hand over a case of Watneys, oh up until'93 as I recall. Maybe the Royal Navy has got a stash squirreled away somewhwere? Drat, now you've got me longing for some...& no way to get it!

I'd like to know why standard American beers taste good to non-Americans. I've got a brother-in-law from Scotland who likes Budweiser.

Thanks goodness for micro brews and restaurants that make their own beer. Stouts, IPAs and wheat beer on tap.

Tread I bow to your shadow you are obviously a man of good taste. The Royal Navy does get its own brews that are unavailable to Joe public. Ivisited a Oberon class submarine once when it was on a curtesey call to london we got invited to the cheif petty officers mess we drank what they call courage sparkling we had five pints and couldnt scratch our selves some how we ended up in the mess on H.M.S.Belfast we had a good feed and drank even more fine brews I went to the heads and walked into the foreward gun turret and knocked myself out cold, Drunk as Ten men, she still hasent forgiven that little outing.

You got that right. EVERYONE from Scotland in my local Celtic Supporters Club (CSC) drinks Coors Lite like it is going out of style!

I guess it is the same thing with Newcastle here - in the UK it is piss, but in the US it 's an expensive import

Got to like drinking Leffe when I was working in France. Wasn't too expensive on the local (well 29km away) hypermarche either.

Couldn't drink it all evening, well not if I wanted to work the next day, so we took the edge of our thirsts with Kronenbourg which was ridiculously cheap (and had 6 free bottles per crate).

Drrrrrink!

Girrllls!

ummm...... better not go any further down that line :-)
