We’ve all seen photos of military personnel, militia and other combatants driving off in a Toyota Hilux, or seen the ‘Technicals’ that are resourcefully created using this vehicle.

Awhile ago, on the BBC’s Top Gear TV programme Jeremy Clarkson (and later James May) decided to see “What does it take to Kill a Toyota Hilux?”

Over at http://www.brakedisc.net/features/tghilux/index.php?part=01 they have photo-documented this feat / test in three parts! It makes for fantastic reading!

In Short (quoted from the site):

“Over the course of two episodes of Top Gear, the Toyota Hilux had survived Jeremy Clarkson’s driving in Bristol, the Severn Estuary, a wooden shed, a caravan, a wrecking ball, fire and, incredibly, a 240ft drop from an exploding building.”

Anybody beat that? :-) :-)

Eric,
I saw these episodes here in NZ and I couldn't believe what they did to it and it still drove after being on a Apartment block that blew up.

I saw the last episode of the Toyota Hilux beating. Incredible that, that car could actualy start after a serious beating like that.
