Lead foil is a Thin sheet of lead.... It's generally used for Belts straps and Mangled Sheetmetal Among other things....

Verlinden sells it.... you can find it on Bottles of some Wines

Metlas used for Embossing are Cheaper and easier to find.... I like the Aluminum and tin for that porpose.

Hi Minky. ....... Boy it's been quite some time since I've been online, no-less surfing my favorite modeling forums. That's what happens when CPU's crash and the budget has no room to purchase a new system at the present time.
..... Anyhow, apology for rambling. Yes, it is always good to have some lead foil handy on the workbench, but don't sweat it, because you can use "yogurt cup foil, Maxwell House coffe can foil, good old aluminum foil for just about all the same thing's ( gun-slings/straps, flags, etc ) as lead foil is used for. The nice thing is you probably have these various foils right at home and can save a few dollars. HAPPY THANKSGIVING !

Hi John !!!!!!!! I'm still alive & well, doing the 2 things I love most : "researching military history and military scale model building! "
Hopefully I will have a CPU by the time Spring comes along ( money is tight these days ). I must be honest though, I get far more done with the hobby since my system crashed.
When My CPU was up and running I spent waaaaaaaay to much time in the forums and totally neglected building armor & figures. But I really enjoy helping others when I can.
It's good to hear from you John !
I wish you & all at ArmoramA best wishes for the holiday season.

I'm not sure about Lead Foil, but here in SA you get Aluminum Foil and another, thicker type that is used to line the inside of ovens. If you have a look at your local Mall they should stock it

Warren,
lead foil can be bought from arts & craft stores as well as toy stores. it's normally found in those foil engraving kits, normally available in bronze and aluminium finish... buy the kit, keep the foil, toss the rest... :-)
this foil tends to be a bit more pliable than our oven foil....

I have gotten a lifetime supply of lead foil from my dentist. They have a bunch of it they peel off the mouth x-rays. They can't throw it away so they have to pay to get rid of it. Mine was more than happy to save me a few weeks worth. I now have about five pounds of the stuff. Well okay not that much but still, it's a lot.
