While frustrated at trying to sand a 1/35 figure, I tried something that worked out fine and thought I would share.

. Take an old brush, or do what I did and buy some cheap ones (#1 or bigger is probably best).

. Gently sqeeze the metal brush head so you can remove the bristles (I saved mine for future use as grass, etc.).

. Get some emory boards, the thinner the better, and look for the ones with differant grits on either side.

. Cut the board so it fits in the brush head and insert.

. Clamp the brush head tight, then trim the emory board to whatever size/shape you want (I got a couple down to 1/32" wide).

Now you've got mini-sanding tools, and the brush handles give you good control. You could also use styrene instead of emory board and make min-applicators for putty, etc. So don't toss those old brushes and give it a try.

Delbert;
They hold up real well. When you trim the end that goes into the brush head, cut it long enough so it seats all the way to the bottom. Then when you clamp it down it gives a good solid base. I made a half dozen and after 3 days of sanding I'm still on the first one.
