don't know might come have a look see, I'm abit young and not that confident of my works quality. Not a member of IPMS either.

I would like to know what you think of my work in comparison to what other under 18's enter into the competition? Please see my gallery, my best work would probably be my FAA hellcat or US Ranger.

thanks Erik

Erik,

I'm not either a IPMS member, but I am thinking of joining soon. I don't think the annual subscription is that much, and the exposure to other modelling techniues and modellers is cool. I suspect though that they're mostly a bunch of SAAF guys. I think Cougar's a member, he should know.

I think your modelling great. I must admit I'm also reluctant to show my work other than on Armorama. I won't have anything ready by 16 December, but am seriously considering entering next year.

Keep up the great work.

Rudi

Hey Guy's,

Yip, I'm a member, got any questions... Fire away

If your in two minds about joining the club, go and attend a few meetings. Take a few of your models along and speak to some of the members. I don't attend the meetings all that often these days, but whenever I do there's always something cool on display or being discussed

Hi Bren,

You don't have to enter if you don't want to, I'm not 100% sure, but I don't think there would be a problem if you went to have a look at the models and have a chat with some of the modellers, but if you're not 100% sure, go to the IPMS Cape Peninsula site and contact one of the guys there. I'm sure they will help you out

http://www.ipmscp.org.za

I had a look at your Gallery and Website and from what I can see your models look great. I don't think you would have any problems competing against other under 18's

Erik, IPMS Cape Province meet the first Friday of every month at the Castle. I think the meetings are between 30 min and 1 hour. I'm sure your mum won't mind going to the Waterfront for that time... otherwise rope her into modelling...

ya, she probably would'nt (she is very supportive of my modelling) but I get all I need to know here at Armorama at any time of the day/night.

I am definetly going to go thru and have a look see, George Winship will have his stock there as well so i can get some shopping done. Just feel like entering for the hell of it, are there any prizes? not realy important, just want to find out how many other u/18's normally enter and what the standard is.

Sounds like you've done your research, are have u joined up since your 2nd post?

Cheers

What does George stock?

Naah, haven't joined yet. I'm pretty busy work wise at the moment and also need to do another Microsoft exam before Xmas.

Like you, at the moment I get 110% of my daily modelling fix from Armorama :-) :-)

most welcome Warren.

Went to the nationals today, was really impressed by some of the models but rather disappointed that a large amount of them had not been weathered.

Still took my cousins with who really enjoyed it, so that made it all worthwhile.

Cheers,

Erik

Hi Erik,

What types of models were mainly on display (Aircraft, Armour, etc...)?

Also, were there any vendors?

I went today. I must admit I was rather disappointed. The number of models on display are the volume I expect for a club build... There were very few figures, and as many AFV's - not counting the tons of 1/72's... dunno, those guys really seem to go nuts over the Rattel...

There were plenty of vendors... although they all seemed to have the same things... Tamiya, Academy and Revell... George had one of the biggest stalls and most variety... he had the usual and then Dragon and one or two Trumpeter kits. The guy from the Military History Book Shop had an impressive display - especially his Osprey - but one can get the books for cheaper from Loot so I'm getting from them instead.

I bought the Dragon Commonwealth troops in NW Europe and tooks some pics, which I'll post later.

All in all, disappointing... I was done in 30 min.... at least the Castle tour was interesting...

I was neither impressed by the semi-naked bimbo models, I thought if anything creates stereotypes that modellers are all pasty white nerds who never go out or socialize then displaying large breasted female models will.

Don't like 1:72nd scale stuff either, so was not impressed by the large bulk of vehicles mass produced.

Well at least my "neef en niggie het dit geniet!"

The wooden vehicles by the entrance to the display where cool though

Ho,Ho,Ho! (:-)

Geseende Kersfees guys.

Personally I have nothing against the nides, but I didn't enjoy seeing them there with all the under 18's around. I thought it was against IPMS rules to show nudes?
