G'day guys
tommorow on at 11 o'clock, i hope you will all pause for our minutes silence, as i do each year.
officially this day will be to remember the declaration of armistice, which brought an end to world war one, in which we lost 61919 aussies, at air, land, and sea.
But i know for me, i remember every australian, who has ever fought in the name of our great country, wether they lived, or died.

the 61919 killed in WW1
the 39,000 in WW2
the 339 in Korea
the 500 in Vietnam

And lets not forget those killed in "peacetime operations"
well, and also those soldiers of countrys who have fought alongside us.
as its been said before...

They shall not grow old
as we that are left grow old,
Age shall not weary them
nor the years condemn
At the going down of the sun, and in the morning
We will Remember them
Lest We Forget

Well said David. Though I am an American, I hold the same feeling for all fighting Men. Those that fought for our freedom and paid the ultimate price. We can never repay them. But we do give them our respect and we must remember them. Bless you my fallon Hero's!

We remember!

yes David I remember this day as well although my main day is ANZAC Day (25 April each year) when I remember all the troops of both New Zealand and Australia that not only lost their lives but were maimed and injured as well.

So to any of the old soldiers, whatever their nationality, on this day I salute you all in rememberance of your sacrifices.

No emoticon on this one as I don't think any of those here are suitable.

David

Yes a very important day -not just for the Aussies.

Flags to half mast at 10.30am and then raised at 11.01am. Its a duty I have performed at every Court I have worked in (with a flag pole) for the last 25 years and tomorrow will be no different.
