Mlb63 I've got the DML M16 family too. Beautifully detailed and a good range of the the M16 family ranging from Stoner's first model to the latest M16.
The Oman campaign was in the seventies if I remember which was during the end of the Vietnam war. It is likely they would be armed with the M16A1 but most of the pics I've seen usually have them totting the British SLR which was fashioned after the venerable Belgian FN FAL. But Im quite sure I've seen a few pics with the SAS using the M16 though.
The most famous campaign for the SAS would be the Battle of Mirbat. Here's a nice link:

The SAS picked up the M-16 very quickly, originally for use in the jungle (strangely enough). As a result they used original M-16s without the bolt-assist.

Sorry Mlb63, went back and checked my book, "Encyclopedia of the SAS" and the SAS appear to be using the SLR. Apparently the SLR was favored despite its weight for its range and suitability for wide open spaces. Still I could've sworn I saw them carrying the M16 somewhere.

Italeri make a modern light weapons set nmber 0421.
I've never seen it but the box art shows SLR/FN-FAL type weapons. However I seem to remember seeing somewhere there are scale issues with this kit.

The only SLRs I have seen are on figures by Accurate Armour. The figures are brit paras in the Falklands.
