This follows along the paths of Hirshams earlier post about curved plastic. I am not curving it but contouring it. I need to heat the plastic enough to make a piece of .060 sheet maleable but not distort it. I have made a jig to bend it to shape out of more styrene but now I need to heat the .060 sheet enough to make it conform to the contours. I have been boling water all day and it hasn't been making it maleable enough. Am I not waiting long enough for the water to get hot or something? Do you guys have any other ideas?

Rob put the plastic in a metal tray. Boil the jug and when boiling tip the water over it. you will need to leave it for say 5 minutes.

If this does not make it malletable enough then forget the water and put it in the oven at a low temp for a while and check it every few minutes until you have it the way you want.

60 thou (1.5mm) is a real thick bit of plastic to do but it is possible.

If not do two 30 thou pieces and then laminate them togeather.

Hope this helps

Lamination may be the way to go......... The .060 may be a bit heavy.......
