Acetate is a sheet of very thin, clear plastic. I bought mine in a local art supplies shop, but I imagine that a model shop should stock it aswel.

One source is the packaging that certain clothes or toys or whatever,has that you can see the product through. Even on good quality shirts the plastic that is inserted in the collar to keep it stiff and looking good until bought. This plastic is easily bent or shaped without cracking or breaking, cuts effortless and takes paint well. it is much more to scale than the clear styrene you get for windows in the kits. Some packages can supply latge sheets when the box lid is replced with it for viewing.
