Howdy shain,

Wow........Homecoming tonight huh? Man, when I went to Homecoming, Snicker's were still a nickel!

Hey shain, just remember one thing. Have FUN! And stay safe. You've got your whole life ahead of you, so make your Homecoming a good memory.

Highschool homecoming???
Could somebody please explain briefly what this is. I have often seen it on TV etc. but never knew what the event was for! We do have a prom night for final years, but I never was interested in formal events so skipped it! Maybe these events dont have the same significance in Ireland. Cheers

Ola People

For me (being a hardcore european) this sounds a bit odd too. I mean I come every day to home from work. Can sombody please tell us Europeans what this Homecoming means?

Homecoming::::: originally it was the returning alumi rekindling school spirit, for the new incoming students. But over the years it's became a hoppla for welcoming the students back to school after summer vacation. Usually the best jock with the bird brain gets named Homecoming King, and the babe with the biggest chest and lowest IQ gets to be the Homecoming Queen, and usually they despise each other, and have jealous boy/girl friends, and the rest of us just drank beer (and other things) in the woods laughing at them, causing trouble, and getting chased by the cops....... But that was 40 years ago, I'm sure in the wonderfully polictically correct days we live in, even that has changed. :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-)

Hope you had a good time at your homecoming Shaine. Reading your posts and seeing your stuff, I never realized you were still in high school.

O.K.....just so everybody isn't hoodwinked by our good member 'Grumpy', ya all need to know that that whole bit about ....."But that was 40 years ago,..." is a bald faced lie!

So just 'fess up Dave and spit out the truth. Everybody knows that when you attended Homecoming, you weren't being chased by "cops", you were being chased by real live Dinosaurs!...........and it wasn't a Tux you were wearing nor a beer in your hand, it was in realitry, animal skins on your back and you were holding a big wooden club.

.....of course, it was also Raquel Welsh dressed in a loincloth who was your Prom date, ala,
'5 Million Years B.C.'

well homecoming tonight was fun, dinner was great, we had a whole room reserved to our group of about 30-40 people, and a couple of old friends came to, our homecoming game was actually friday and yes we did win, so overall homecoming was a 12/10, best so far!

edit: "Reading your posts and seeing your stuff, I never realized you were still in high school."

why would you say that?

Glad you had a good time.
Mainly because you write maturely, for a young person. (that's a compliment)

Shain, enjoy your youth, when you get to be my age, you get a third childhood, allowed to be totally immature, and simply accepted as being senile......
Looking forward to retirement as a "toys-r-us" kid...... :-) :-) :-) :-)
