I got my first 1st place ever with the Airfix 1/32 scale VW Beetle that I built for the Move It! campaign. It also won best out-of-box award. Both awards were in the Cars & Trucks 1/32 scale and smaller category.
I also re-entered the 1/76 scale Airfix LCM Mk III and M4A1 Sherman. It placed second in the Ships 1/350 scale or larger category. It had previously placed second at Patcon last month in a similar category.
My daughter, Elaina, did very well for her first contest. She won 2nd place in the Juniors Airplanes with a Monogram snap-tite Space Shuttle she built for the make & take.
She also won 3rd place in the Juniors Military Vehicles with her Tamiya BMW R75 motorcycle (from the BMW/Zundapp set).
Her final award was 3rd place in the Juniors Miscellaneous category with the Ertl TIE Interceptor. Not a bad day for a girl who turns 11 in a couple of weeks.
I was threatened by other modelers who said I would be ridiculed if my daughter won more plaques than I did. Thankfully we both received 3 plaques a piece.
There were other Armorama members who did well. Of course, Al LaFleche was mentioned plenty of times and Dave Savard (Dixon66) took more than a couple of awards. Gian (Monte) also snagged at least one award. I may have missed other Armorama members, I saw Jeff Milos (Grasshopp12), but he just did a drive by visit.
I do find it ironic my first 1st place is for a car model.

Congratulations to you both, with results like these at this age, you must be dreading the day she can enter in the same category and class as yourself.
. Only joking, it's great if you can share a hobby like this. To many kids just sit in front of the TV and the only interaction they have is with their playstation. Good luck with your next contest.
Cheers

Congradulations on your father and daughter winnings, I'm really impressed hearing about your daughter winning at the age of 11, now you had to of give some pretty good pointers,to show her the way.
Hope you have many more father and daughter team winnings.

Congrats again to both of you!
Like you said to me a while ago, you are a better modeler than you think. You always do a great job of turning a sow's ear into a silk purse.
The little lady is turning into a real fine modeler.
Rats, with my and my son's interest in the martial arts, I was looking to meet Grasshopper12.
