Wow Opie, another ambitious dio. I like the figure in the first photo. Nice camo and nice work on bringing out the facial expressions. The photos a bit grainy and dark though.

that is a LOT of figures... can't wait to see the finished diorama- must be huge!
i rasa dulu dlm armorama somebody else ada buat diorama mcmni, ardennes front, with tiger2, sdkfz 250 and A LOT of marching german troops, but can't remember who or where lah.
btw nice expression on the figures. do you paint the white of the eyes? sebab i kalau buat figure esp. faces memang hancus..

yeah, i remember the large dio, infact it in here somewhere...wact em rhine kot tajuk dia...kalau tak silap.

well, i think im going all out for this dio i think.
ive got arround 25 figures for this one. just a few more to add.

the majority of figs are from DML, theres no tamiya figures here, but i got some revel figures. (the sitting guy)

i need more practice and patience la for the face. selalunya tak sabar and fed up when i silap paint.

later i'll be finishing my 251, and a kubel wagen. for the mean time im trying to scratch build some trees. i mean big trees.

The setting sounds promising. You can improve on the figures, just goto website like WW2modelmaker.com and Planetfigure.com and you shall get lots of info in the discussion forum or articles section.

I do occassionally run some demo in Miniature Hobby in MidValley, may be nxt time round you guys can drop by.

Hey there alan, this is a really great site where we can exchange ideas or get advice among other things. Look around the gallery, resources or forums, I'm sure you'll like it.

What exactly do you mean by running demo?

GC,

We started a monthly (more oftern 6 weeks) meeting at Miniature Hobby just to allow modellers to present their latest work and also share tips and techniques in Armor/Aircraft/Dio and Figure. I've given figure painting demo twice and Calvin Tan from Singapore also came once for Demo as well.

We normally meet at Sat evening for about 2 hours or so...

The next one probably mid/end Nov..yet to confirm

Allan

Hi Allan,

Welcome aboard and personally I must say its great to get a chance to meet you electronically anyway. Actually I've admired your work for sometime. First seeing it at Minature Hobby and then at the Planetfigure site.

I think I can speak for most of us here that we would be more than delighted to sit in on one of your demos. Just let us know when. Thanks.

Dear All,

Thanks for the kind words. I started back in end 1996 in M'sia but I was seconded to Europe between end 1997 until Mar 2003. The breakthrough came from visited one of the major European show... an eye opener which converted me from Diorama/Armor builder to figure/vignette painter this days. I still build armor and tanks but mainly as a support to my figure.

Happy modelling.

Hiya Allan,

I'm the 'other' Alan the rest are referring to above
Glad to see you in this forum - it's always nice to see more Malaysian modellers here :-)

I used to be into tanks, then dioramas, but now am into figures too..I'd love to meet up 1 day at one of your 'workshops' at MH - just let us know when ok?

Cheers
Alan
