Good Morning, All

I just ran acorss this stuff called Model Magic from the folks at Crayola (man they don't just make crayons anymore...). It comes in colors as well as plain white, and air dries in 24 hours after which you can paint it. I thought I might use it on a small scale to represent ground. It's supposed to be pretty pliable which is why I thought of using it on vignette bases. But it's also 6 bucks for 6 1/2oz. packs at CVS. Has anybody used this before and if so how well does it work?

Beware - I have used this for school projects and such and it will has a tendancy to crack when it dries, and it breaks down over time.

Here's some trivia for you. Crayola is owned by Binney and Smith who is now owned by Hallmark (Cards). They recognized the tremendous brand identification of the Crayola name and they pump out markers, lunchboxs, et al like machine gun bullets.

All the air drying clays I have used shrink a little, but otherwise work fine. They have their place. But, I usually use the oven baking type of clays.

I have found that it does crack, and also becomes quite brittle with age. I've also noticed a tendency for the stuff to dry out in storage... once you open it, you might as well use it all.

I no longer use it.

I keep mine cool in a plastic bag in the fridge. Lasts a long time this way.
