Hi there,

I'm working on a bunker and I would like to have some opinions about it because I have never build a bunker before. Does it look oke?

Looking good mate. Maybe in painting the real bunker would show. One thing I can't see in your pic are doors (or something like that).

Das ist Ausgeseichnet, Mein Freund!
Ja, I know, that's Deutsch, not Dutch, but I think you'll figure it out.
I think the only thing you may wish to add are the marks which the wooden forms left in the concrete. If you have, ignore me. Can't wait to see it finished!

Thanks for mentioning it. You're right but how can I reproduce this? Thanks...

Hi Jurjen,

Ziet er veelbelovend uit.

The quickest way to do it is to spread a layer of plaster (or plamuur) and then wait untill it dried to the stage where it doesn't run anymore, but is still 'soft'. then use a lenght of balsawood, icelolly stick or other suitable wood to push the imprint against the plaster. Much like putting zimmerit on a tank.
But this looks more like a pillbox,, rather than a large bunker, and they often had a smooth-ish surface anyway. I think it looks good sofar, the real secret is in the paint finish and weathering.

Good luck

Hi Henk,

Is there a difference between a bunker and a pillbox?

Thanks for the tip

Another question, Do I need to make a door? I'm not for sure.

And how many soldiers were stationed at a pillbox like this one.

What is the interieur like?

thanks

Looks good enough that I'd throw an HE round into it! As the others have stated, maybe some doors, although they may already be there, just cant see them. Looks good to me. Drive on and lets see the finished product. "Q"

Jurjen,
The difference between a pillbox and a bunker. Well in short, a pillbox is a small bunker, without interior, so no rooms, walls, storage or anything. It is just a concrete hut to protect a few soldiers or MG nest who would be regularly replaced. A bunker is is a larger construction, with storage rooms for ammo anf supplies, sleeping quarters etc, etc. These can house anything from a rifle platoon to a brigade for a prolonged time. I think what you have build classes as a pillbox as there seem to be no internal walls or such. As you have a wall at the back which extends around the entrance, a door would not neccessarily be fitted. I do however think that there should be a firing or observation slit on the other side of the bunker as there is now only one field of fire. Unless the bunker would be part of a intricate system of bunkers (such as the Siegfried Line) with overlapping fields of fire, a bunker or pillbox would never be blind/defenceless on one or more sides.

Groeten

Danke sehr, dank u wel, Merci beaucoup Lol

Here's another update. I have finished the base-groundwork. I mada a mix from 'earth from the garden' (don't know the englisch word)+ sand, static grass+water and white glue. The setting will be a pillbox on the edge of a forrest

It looks great!! Come there figures on it??
Or somrthing else? Aren't those handles a little bit large?? it's a great dio for your collection. It's different than a tank on the background.

Nice work Jurjen!

ja, das ist sehr gut! But is the bunker German WW2 or what? cause that may affect the design of it. I like the idea of putting it on the edge of the forest
