As one of those people who rely almost exclusively on the 'net for information and for shopping it really drives me berserk when so many of the websites are never updated ...

There is nothing more frustrating, than to access a site and find last updated august 2000 particularly when it is a retail site or a manufacturers site.... Why bother? Just how do these companies actually stay in business?

Just today's gripe.....Jim :-)

Jim is right. Why bother.

Companies who never answers emails, also p.. me of. I mean, why wright "Send us an e-mail for exact price" when they never answer.

Solution to the problem: Buy from companies who update there sites regularly and answers emails. Don't bother with the rest.

I try to update every couple of weeks, a model gets added every couple of months but sometimes there just isn't enough time. This week alone, I've received over 70 mortar photos from Australia and Finland to go thru. Last two weeks I spent digging up info to contribute to another book that is in the preliminary stages. (I do have other priorities in life)

But not updating in years is simply not acceptable!

There's a local (non-model) business whose website was still advertising 1998 calendars and features scheduled for June 1997 when it finally shut down in 2002!

?... Oh come on! Academy update their website quite regularly. All recent releases are shown. They only lag behind with future release announcements, as they still show 3rd quater announcements, while the 4th quarter has just begun. I hope you don't use the old link for English website (http://www.academy.co.kr/en/index.html). The current one is http://www.academy.co.kr/en2/index.html.

I think Trumpeter are the worst now, among major manufacturers. For a few months they were regularly updating their website, but it ended half a year ago and now their "NEWS" section ends at May 2004 releases...

About the Academy Website, there is a newlook version.

The old Academy website :
http://www.academy.co.kr/en/index.html

The new site :
http://www.academy.co.kr/en2/index.html

Academy did not announce its newlook version on the old site. I find it out by Google search engine.

But don't be angry... Many manufacturers had usually printed on their products : "Specifications may change without notice!" :-)

That's because they expect you to use main home page (http://www.academy.co.kr) and select language each time you visit the site... That page was of course always up to date.

Hi Jim

I know exactly how you feel.

My simple philosophy is that an internet site should be dynamic that is its being constantly being updated, added to and modified.

Yeah I know personally its a lot of effort but one its fun to do and two the customer etc thinks its worthwhile to check it regularly, they view that you are on to and technically savvy.

The internet is what you make of it minimal effort equals minimal return.

A site that far out of date to me is truly indicative of the nature of the company.

I dont get high blood pressure over it but I switch of from that site straight away never to return.

The reason I like this site is that I truly appreciate the supreme effort you and the team put in. As offered previously if you need help please just ask.

Regards

Fordboy
