This weekend, The Tokyo Hobby Show is being held. Apart from the new 3 in 1 Sdkfz 251 announced by DML, nothing has so far been 'leaked' to the press as yet... Well there is an AFV Club Tiger 1 coming out - whether that is connected I don't know...

What I am hoping for is that Academy are going to announce (definitively) their Lees/Grants, the Sheridan or at the very least some images of the new M4a2... I am also hoping that something definitive will come out regarding some of the rumours regarding M3a1 Half-tracks...

As I said in the title, keep your fingers crossed! ..Jim

P.S. As the Armorama Lear-Jet is undergoing some necessary maintenance (the gold on the bath-taps is getting replaced) we will not be having a presence at the Hobby-Show.... :-)

Yes,yes, yes another Sdkfz 251/250, can't have enough of them, still missing a decent plastic Sdkfz251/20 Uhu.

Or is it another Halftrack we're talking about :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) (is there another ???).

Kris, DML has announced an UHU, it's onthe Perth page.
No box art, but it has a kit #.

Hm, I just checked and you're right, but.... I don't like the (future) description. This can mean november, but it can also be 2025... .

Kris - I doubt very much that there is such a grave need for more 251s... As you may have noticed, on other threads, despite my instincts, I've been pretty fair regarding the plastic mountain of German Armor which is on the market...

Don't tell me that we can't ask for a few crumbs from the table of DML and the rest?

Why does every thread like this have to degenerate into the same 'we've got loads but we want more' ...Jim

Sorry Jim ,

But I was being a bit sarcastic here.

The Uhu is actually the only 251 I'm still missing (yes, I do have the Verlinden kit...).

And I agree that it's about time some more allied vehicles are marketed. I form one would love to see a plastic T17E1 or 2 (now, why would that be???) and yes, a M3 halftrack would be nice also. And I wouldn't mind any kit of a M4 tractor.

not to mention early war stuff such as char b1 bis, a 13, a decent matilda, or even a crusier with the 2pdr gun would be a change of pace.

As the initial returns are now in from Tokyo, the summary of new releases is as follows:

AFV CLUB Late-production Tiger 1, Sdkz 251/21 and 251/22

Dragon Sdkfz 251/ 20 and (another) 251/22, Early (Porsche) Tiger I and a D.A.K Pz I

Tamiya 1/48th Scale Sherman, Stug III and Schwimmwagen

Bronco Model New, Chinese manufacturer who are releasing a complete kit (in plastic) of a H38/39 Hotchkiss light tank.

I have seen nothing on Academy's plans and nothing which has been rumoured has been confirmed. Unfortunately, all of us were working from limited sources, so I have no news of Trumpeter either. Their is also a dearth of information (at the moment) over new warship or aviation releases - Sorry Guys!...Jim

James, as I have had no news of SF releases (or aviation for that matter) ...I can't really comment. As the SF sites out there are so good, apart from the odd snippet of news, we really can't compete..

The Tiger debate is a 'little' exagerated - if AFV Club sell a load of them, who knows, it may give 'seed' money to produce an M48?...Jim

Talk about "whistling in the dark." If the Tiger I sells well, it will only encourage them to MAKE MORE TIGERS...maybe even revamp the whole I - II line yet again. How about they MAKE a M3 halftrack and use the sales money for seed to make aTiger I?

Jacques, in these difficult times, it is better to try and be positive ...Jim "Just Call Me Pollyanna'".....

I do think there is a certain validity in this argument though. The vast majority of modellers are only interested in German subjects.. In Europe (apart from the U.K.) this is certainly the case. Here in Spain if its not German - it simply doesn't exist. If you could see the Spanish Magazine 'Euromodelismo' it is wall to wall German - in all its aspects, aviation, armor figures and warships. Depressing really...

I hear you JIm, I just thought I would throw the obvious out there, in case some factory rep was looking and needed a hint. I always try to think positive, but when I see the Tiger series done...and redone,...and redone ad-nausiem, when we all need some good modern kits, it makes me...well, cry. Weep. burst into uncontrollable fits of rage.

well, not really. But the point is that they all seem to be trying to "milk the same well" rather than trying to be innovative.

Of course, Trumpeter is not included in this, and DML has at least started to think outside thier box...somewhat.

oh yeah, (fingers on temples) positive...positive...
