anyone have any tips, techniques, or materials for building 1/35 scale hay bails??

ive read that some people use diffrent shades of sewing thread to simulate hay but are there any otehr materials that people use to simulate this stuff. what im actually looking to do is make hay bales as cover for a tiger in a small town scene

Are you actually thinking bales or mounds of hay? either way hay can easily be created using cheap bristle brushes, I am not sure if you have the countless Dollar stores back East as there are out here but you can pick up the brushes cheaply. They don't paint worth a damn but make good long grass and hay

thats a geat idea!!. the trick is to maybe get some brushes with diff size bristles so it doesnt all look too uniform, and waly world im sure has some of these things for pretty cheap

if you mean the rectangular 'blocks' , it might not be cheap, but I'd use the Noch 'straw' grass sheet glued onto a tan painted block of styrofoam or insulating blueboard.

yes i do mean teh blocks but am not sure what you mean by Noch 'straw' grass sheets. can you elaborate?
