Looks like some generic knock off of the 101st Airborne patch which is similar, but yet, very different from that design...
Here is the modern "desert" version of the patch which is pretty similar to the WWII Version (which was in color) in it's basic design. The "Airborne" motto arches over both the WWII and modern versions

It depends on which US Airborne Division you are talking about. The two that are currently active and have been around since WWII are:
101st Airborne Division
82nd Airborne Division
Patches are the same now as they were in WWII.
There were other airborne divisions, not sure what their patches looked like.
