Mike is my name, and I'm an "older" guy who has just started building models again after several years. I'm former USAF and currently work for a major defense contractor. My passions are military history and coaching. Also as you can guess, I'm new to Armorama, but not to modeling. I've been mostly painting figures (mainly the "Warhammer" fantasy and gaming figures with my sons) and collecting military miniatures. I've gotten the urge to start modeling armor and doing dioramas again. Have a project going with a USMC Hummer w/TOW accepting surrender of Iraqi troops. With the 60th anniversary of the "Battle of the Bulge" coming, I'm interested in building a diorama with either an Ardennes version King Tiger or JagdTiger and German figures (possibly Fallschirmjager or SS). Looking forward to associations, ideas, and help in the Dioramas and Armor forums. Glad to be "on board".

Welcome, I've always admired the Warhammer stuff. Pretty neat looking equipment.
Have you read the book by S.L.A.Marshall, Bastogne the First Eight Days? It is produced by the Center of Military History. Pretty good book that was originally printed by the Infantry Journal. It is a 260 page soft cover book that has the last 50 pages as photos and many tactical maps. It also has the US order of battle of the units involved in the narrative.
Good piece of history that was originally written in 1946.

Thanks Jim-
Nice to hear from someone close to home. Where abouts in Washington? I'm in Issaquah (east of Seattle) area, though I work in Seattle. Also a born and bred "Huskie". Looking forward to the experiences and feedback from all. You'll see me most likely in "Armor" or Dioramas".

Hoping you and yours are safe and making it through the "Frances" experience. I got a mild taste of a hurricane when stationed in San Antonio, Texas several years back, but only the edge. We mainly get to play with earthquakes out here on west coast. Anyway thanks for welcome and thoughts and prayers to all in Florida.

Thanks for the welcome and reference. I'm a firm believer in research and doing it right the first time. I'll check out the book this week and get back to you when I've digested some of it.

Thanks Sean from another "son of a vet". I'm a Vietnam Vet myself with sons. Plan on taking you and all on offers for help and feedback. Any ideas for a "Battle of Bulge" diorama?

Thanks for the welcome and very much interested in ideas and input especially from "abroad". Had some limited contact with a portion of your country (Pirinclik) while in US Air Force. More of a student of the history of your beautiful country as I've studied "Ancient / Medieval" history in college. Look forward to you inputs.
