Hey all-
Is there anything special I would need to do to vacuform fuselages? Like does the plastic used need to be thicker than the width you would like or does one just pick the width one would like and have at it? Also does anyone have any suggestions, comments, horror/success stories they could share about their vacuforming exploits? Thanks.

Kyle- turn off the vacuum AS SOON AS the part is formed. Really. unless you want to buy your wife a new 1.5 HP shopvac for her groomshop .
seriously- turn it off.
Thickness- usually anything under .015 has a tendency to tear or stretch into the holes & thus away from the master. also very fragile when formed.
It helps to have the tiniest of undercuts on the base of your master, even when using clay or somesuch to hold it away from the surface. gives you room to work the part & a flange for locating the halves in assembly.
Support your master well! you'd be surprised at how much even wood can flex under a vacuum...
I assume you're getting on board the homebuilt vacuform bus- just remember more holes good (ex. circuit board) bigger holes baaaaaaaddd...
