When you speak of diluting white glue, what are the proportions that you guys use? How much water to how much glue ?

The more glue, the harder the end result will be (I assume you are discussing the trick to make tarps or tent material here). But the more glue, the thicker and the less it is evenly absorbed by the paper. I make a mixture that looks like milk, and is about as runny as milk. Mix glue and water well before using it.

The consistency of milk is good but I make it thicker and add a drop of dish detergent. Makes it "wetter" and helps it to soak in better. Go ahead and start with milk and go from there.
