Anybody?

It was a while ago on ML but I think they said it was during construction when they were moving the initial barrel to the site where they were building the gun.

Again, many thx Alan. I just came across the photo and thought........Man! Wouldn't that be an interesting (and expensive) dio to build!!!

{....let's see.....three Tamiya Famo kit's at approx. $80.00 @.....that's $240.00. Plus fig's, plus 1 1/2" Pvc pipe, plus twenty-four(?) trailer wheels, plus........} well, you get the picture.

Someone else, I do not know who, came up with the idea that this might actually be a naval gun. He/she suggested that this was actually a Russian barrel, taken of a Russian battleship, or the warf where it was being built, and supposed to be used somewhere in the Atlantic wall emplacements..

What ever the hell they got there it couldn't be fired on those tiny wheels. so lets say its the barrel for the Leopold, why would they transport it with the Famos instead of a train? wouldn't they build the Leopold body, then put it in the railway, and then install everything else? if anyone knows please tell me .

the Idea of the naval gun can also be possible

Hi Could be part of the barrel for the Dora 80cm too, being towed from the rail head to the gun site. Maybe taken in the Crimea during the assembly of this gun for the Seige of Sevastopol. Just a guess.

Take care, Sgirty

Personally, it looks like the barrel to the DORA railgun. Its too big for the Leopold. Wish we had a definite location or date the picture was taken, that at least would reduce the guessing.
