I am in need of some information on the types of locomotives used to transport people to the various death camps.
I believe they where the BR-50's, but I am not sure.
I know that this is a touchy subject so that is why I am trying to be as tackful as possible.
If anyone knows what the type of locomotives was used to pull the cars to the camps please tell me.
If I have offended anyone I am very sorry, I am not trying to.

Howdy Wolf-Leader,
I can't be of any help, but I know our good member 'Cuhail' is a RR aficionado, and may be of help to you (or maybe point you in the right direction).
Look him up in the members listing and PM him your request.

not sure of the loco's but heres a picture of the carriages used to transport them to the camps one of these would hold around 70 people. This carriage is only on display at the rail-head in Bergen-Hohne and not normally accessable to people due to the Military still using the rail-head.

Maybe I'm wrong, but due to the "unimportance" of their freight, and due to the fact that they probably were not very hasty with delivering the "goods", I guess that they used freightlocomotives for these tasks, and probably not the most recent ones...

Dear Jody,
Consider contacting the Holocaust Museum in Washington D.C. I'm sure that your sensitivty to that part of history will come across without a problem.

From what I know, the BR50-52 types where used for heavy transport duty like pulling trains with tanks to the front. The loco's used for pulling those 'death' trains where much smaller. You can't go wrong with a BR 38 or 64 or 75 type.
