Dragon has some Great NAM US Troops and Some NVA And Vietcong.
Just look around for the Dragon Nam Figures and you should find some good ones.

Dragon use to make a nice set of chopper pilots/crew for 'Nam era choppers. Not sure if it's still around or not. they also did an Air Cav set that had some decent figures.

Here are some links to possible kits from DML:
You can modify there:

Since i ve build that Huey of Academy in 1/35 i ve done some search for the figure stuff. Dragon/DML has a lot of Vietnam sets. There is a helicopter crew that i never could get it , the Air cav that i have it , and at least 6-7 more Vietnam sets of special forces and all that . Theyre not top detail figures or anything special but since no body else has anythig good u can do good things with them . Verlinden used to do also some figures for Vietnam .
Any help u need , i ll be glad to give u either on the Huey build or in the dio making .

the options in plastic have been covered by these gents, but there are more in resin if your budget will allow;
hobby fan make some excellent NAM figures, ive got a couple and im impressed.
legend make a set of two or three air cav troopers specifically designed for the huey kit you mention, they are leaping out and running from the chopper.
cheers
