So who is in the GTR? There is IPMS toronto that meets the first Monday of the Month in the West end, but it doesn't get a large turnout , especially from armour modellers. Perhaps we can change that.

Hey, Paul. I'm up in Brampton. I know Geoff Steer is in TOronto as I met him at Keith's yesterday.

As for clubs, there is a healthy armour section at Peel Scale Modelers up in Brampton and we are trying to get an AMPS chapter started. We certainly have the space in the community centre were we meet and we could, initially meet as part of the normal Peel Scale Modelers meeting on the 3rd Tuesday of the month (except June-Aug).

I know its a bit out of the way for city-folk, but we are a stable club and have had a good armour crew for over 27 years now.

Paul

BTW Congrats on the promotion.

It's not too far for me as I live in Etobicoke. I would certainly be ready to join a local AMPS chapter right away. When is the next meeting? Same as the Peel Scale modelers? Is there a July mtg?

Yes, it would, tentatively, be the same as Peel. We don't meet in the summer, but start back on the third Tuesday in September. Meeting in the same hall at the same time as Peel we would likely actually have to become Peel members ($25 /yr) with the AMPS thing sort of falling out as a free SIG sort of thing. Doesn't bother me as I've been a Peel member since the second month after I arrived in Toronto, 21 years ago. I'll be asking the Peel executive about this over the next couple of days and will report back.

I am originally from Havelock, just down the road and migrated to Kingston. All of my family is still there. I have a lot of family in Peterpatch too. Do you know Brock, Andy or Christine Davis. Cousins of mine.

Hello fellas,

Only saw this thread today. I am a figure sculptor from Mississauga. Normally, we have a informal figure painter meeting on every second Tuesday's evening ( from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm ) each month at the Sentry, a model shop specialized in military figures. If any of you guys are interested, please drop by to have nice chat ( or bring some of your works to show us ). Address is : 1633 bayview Avenue ( South of Eglinton ), Toronto, Ontario M4G 3B5, Canada, tel : 416 480 1687 ( Joe )

Oh, we'll be there all right. I've only missed one Harwood/Exeter/Ajax show in the last 20 years. The Buffet alone is worh the drive to Ajax. The vendors just make it an even better deal.

Hi Sebastian
I know aurora quite well. You are about 45 minutes from the IPMS meeting site ( if the traffic cooperates) about the same to Harwood. Hope to see you at one or the other.

We have a small model club that meets in Barrie once a month. We are very informal and there are only a couple of us that build armour, the rest build those shiny wingy things!!

If interested give me drop me an e-mail.

I have a question for you Toronto people ...I used to buy alot of my stuff from a hobby shop called Underground modeller... I know the shop closed but does anyone know if Ted is still around ..Is he still building models or what...Just wondering... He told me that I was the guy who bought the most stuff from his shop without ever setting foot in his store..

Rick.

Actually I saw Ted at the last Harwood/Exeter/Ajax/Achillies/Graf Spee show. First time I'd laid eyes on him ni years. Seemed to be doing OK, but didn't have much chance to chat.
