weird question about horses

If a horse had lost part of their ear and it had healed what colour would the scar be? Told you it was wierd

Godfather,
It would depend on the skin color of the horse. Most horses would have a black or very dark brown skin. Some paints have light skin. Most likely the scar would be black. But, artistically, you might want to make it several shades lighter than the skin just so that it will be noticeable (and contrasting.)

We help a friend with her horses and I've seen scars from deep pink to dark brown. But I think it has to do something with how old the wound is.

Where is Anders Heintz when you need him, he knows all about these types of things...

Okay, now that the question has been asked, why do you want to know?? (I'm resisting the temptation to say that I hope it is modelling related... )

Fresh wound = pink
Old wound = black/darkish colour

Thanks for the post, and pointing out the horse head connection! the reason is farily mundane: I have the Andrea resin Norman warlord on a horse one of the horse's ears is broken 3/4 of the way up, i can't sculpt so hence wounded horse.
