Just this morning, terrorists struck in several compounds. If you check CNN they say 6 were confirmed dead. Actually two of the bodies are under an overpass. One of them is headless from being dragged from the neck at the back of the car.
All this is just happening 3kliks from my position (office). More news are coming in as of this moment. We are slowly becoming a warzone. I don't mind the bullets and bombs, but dragging a live body is a bit sadistic.
This should be interesting since the fatalities are a mix of foreigners not just caucasians. And the latest is that there are 5 hostages of Lebanese origin. This is getting better every minute.
It's like Desert Storm near the location now. Police cars and internal security armored cars and humvees. nice view.
But now I'm hungry. Time for lunch.

ABB has already evacuated their employees, right? doesn't your company have plans to do that as well?
guns and bullets are kinda tolerable, indeed but a headless body being dragged!??

Thanx doll, but don't worry 'bout Mondo Bizzaro too much. I escaped a bombing here just after 9/11and 9 days before I go for my vacation. I got stabbed once, got beaten-up twice, drove by a gun battle between AFP and NPA (dumb experience), rode by in a gun batle between AFP and hostage taker Pugoy (dumb-but not my fault) almost cut -off my pinkie finger (damn chicken curry), almost OD'd - don't ask, hit by a jeepney in Baclaran(it was driving slowly thankfully) chased by police and "muttawah" because of my rosary necklace and suspected of murder - looooonnnnggg story but an odd and humorous one. Still Mondo keeps coming back like Freddie Krueger.
:-) :-) :-)
ABB employees are highfaluting folks anyways. Just because their payscale is twice as much.
Red:
Humvees here are painted sable sand (TESTORS) on the pinkish side for Internal Security. Although some are still US woodland pattern, they patrolled Riyadh. Ang pamatay lang diyan ay yung Arabic numerals at Saudi national emblem silhouette of a date tree (tamr) with two crossed swords (sihkeen) and the laurel standard below. I never saw any distinguising marks/symbols to identify which units they belong too. I think the numbers distinguish it mostly. But I usually know by looking at the occupants uniform. Red beretts - National Guard, Red Beret/greyish desert BDU - Royal Guards, Green Berrets/woodland BDU - Internal Sec.- Nat'l Guard attach, like MPs'/SPs, Blue beretts - Bhar al Askariyah or loosely translated = Army of the Sea or what we call Navy. They also use a lot of Steyr softskin vehicles mostly mounted with .50 cal. and V100's just like us.

The latest terror attack in Saudi. I just happen to work near the incident.
Shonen Red:
Yo, I saw some military Land Rovers here painted red. They belong to the same unit that protects the Royal Family too. There are also some humvees painted light ghost grey. The Humvee types here are the Commando type soft top and the armored type hard top like what was used in Black Hawk Down.

Oops. 2 Pinoys, KIA. Apperently, according to rumors, some of the victims were not hit by terrorists but by friendly fire or ricochets. Including that one Pinoy. Saudi forces sustain heavy casualties in offensive (daw). Ewan, medyo censored pa nga dito. Sa bakuran lang namin nangyayari pero sa CNN at BBC pa kami nakikibalita. Puro unconfirmed naman din. Pero hindi mo maitatago ang taranta ng militar dito.
Their specf4s are carrying Steyr's!
Saudi Air Forces Fact:
Every two months you will read of a "training accident" and always involving a Tornado. But very seldom are there casualties. I guess they bail out at the first hint of a problem. I had a friend in BAe who say's they are f
terrible pilots. Imagine them using Tornados as a training platform. We should have an indigenuous a/c called "Typhoon" then each type/variant will be called Gloria, Cory, Loren, Miriam, Santanina etc.. ... ...

Friendly fire? I guess a lot of those are happening nowadays in military operations like take the case of the American NFL player turned soldier, Pat Tillman, who recently died in Afghanistan. Reports in this weeks news said that he died not by enemy fire but by friendly fire coming from his own group. I guess with all the chaos & excitement you really couldn't tell whose shooting who.

True. In a firefight, there's no such thing as the bullet with your name on it. They are marked "to whom it may concern."

Well thanx y'all. Still alive. Seems like nothing happened actually 'coz Pinoy community just kept on shopping despite what happened.
My analysis of the recent events, especially the supposedly "sucksesfull" rescue:
Did you see the supposed HRT drop down on the roof in the afternoon wearing desert BDU's and body armor carrying Steyrs. Just to see how half baked their attempt was, they were dropped down by an "Air Ambulance". Sikorsky was it? Twin rotors. The rotors down wash was so strong them specfors had a difficult time getting off the helo. Gunshots heard, then an enforced news black out. During all this the whole compound was virtually surrounded by what I think was 4-6 different groups of civilian and military forces including firefighters. You name it. V-100, V150, dingos, humvee, squad cars, motorcycles, 50cals, MG3 Steyr Trucks... ... ....
The following day: Saudi specfors emerge with victory signs from a "SECOND" attack initiated before dawn. These guys are now wearing typical black and blue clothing and bonnets sporting HK's. Sad to say 9 hostages had their throats examined with a knife by the terrorists. And two of the terrorists escape by stealing a car. A third one just ran away I guess. One hostage said that the 9 hostages tried to escape. At the same time they were being rescued. Hmmmnnn? What happened to the first attemp that they needed a second one! By the type of weapons they carried they I dont think they were snipers or spotters.
It was also very clear that the Military had casualties but now the news pulls it out saying they wont disclose any.
My guess, the first attack f :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) d -up big time, causing casualties among the rescuers and the hostages.
But as usuall. No news is clear or uncensored in this country (Saudi). Most of what comes out is BS anyway. I get my news from CNN and BBC. Some from what I saw while driving by.
You gotta love it here.

BTW:
The Saudi forces have some pretty cool BDU's. I counted four types. They use the typical american BDU, then there is the grey version of the deser choco chip pattern, then you have the woodland pattern and the coolest one of all was a mix of the new US BDU's in the grey shade with a 5mm thick mesh patterns layed on 45 degrees. Imagine it having you BDU covered with a net.
Too bad I can't take pictures of them 'coz I'd could get shot at.
