I dont know what happened but My text did not appear. Anyway what I asked was: What is the ranking system about on this site? Also how does one move up the ladder?

Your rank depends on how many posts you've written.
With 5 posts, you're now a private 2nd class... with 2000 posts, sabot just became a general.
The rank gives a good idea of how well someone knows the site. And also... it's fun.
But Jim (the owner / creator...) will be able to tell you more.
Also, I know there's an FAQ somewhere about ranking, look around the bottom of the page.

Welcome to this great site !

Howdy AutoFix! Allow me to be the (fourth?) to welcome you to the best armour site on the web.
You'll find a great bunch o' mates here, but don't listen to any of them when it comes to 'ranking'.

To answer your question properly, 'ranking' is what you smell like after a 20-mile forced march in full field-gear #:-)

Tread.

Believe me.

In fact, it took me about a dozen posts before I figured out there was a FAQ link on the bottom revealing all ranking secrets. That was back in February, 580 posts ago.
I should have switched off the PC there and then. Since then, I hardly spent any of my free time at anything but this forum, my cat left me, my wife threatens to stop feeding me and I hardly had any modeling done...
Just kidding. Welcome to the best forum at this end of the universe. (only YodaMan can point out the way to the other galaxies far, far away... ).

As near as I have it figured, the best way to increase your rank is to spend all of the time you once spent actually building models is to hang out in these forums and type messages to other people about building models. Seriously, I have learned more, taken more pride in what I am working on, gotten good advice and "met" some of the best people in the world here.

I feel a bit stupid to quote my own words, but that is over 1860 posts ago by now. I should find better ways to spend my life...

I definitely have to agree with keean on that. If you have a question, you'll get a quick answer and a whole lot o them at that.We all love to chip our 2 cents in (case in point)

Yep, ask a stupid question here and you'll be garunteed to get at least a dozen quite serious answers. Plus the best way to get an Armouramaite to look a a post is to say don't look at this post. We are a curious breed. Something to do with to much paint thinner I think. #:-) #:-) #:-) #:-) #:-) #:-) #:-)
