hey guys,
planning to build a T-28 trojan in the near future, but need some help. the whole kit is full of panel line but instead of depress, it is raised lines. buck, when you did your T-28, did you erased all of it then rescibed it again? pictures are also welcome.

I think its almost the same w/ T-6G Texans of Academy in 72 scale w/ 3 decal options & recessed panel lines. Hope this will help.

totally diffrent kit yun bro. heller's kit is quite rough in the making, needs more sanding and detailing.academy's kit is much more better.

Hi Klinger,

I got my own copy of the Heller Kit. I agree the details are quite heavy. Better to sand it all off and re-scribe. Better yet, we can ask Buck on his own build experience.

Good luck on the build,
Wanze/Bistro

I think Buck is out of town at the moment. Maybe tomorrow he'll be back in his office.

Cardinal,

Thanks! Just got back.

No guys, I didnt go to Canada. I wish! Hehehe. Just went off to Baguio for a brief business.

Btw, pre-empt ko na ang yahoogroup and website: Welcome nyo naman si Cardinal, our newest member at IPMS BAC.

Welcome !!!

Klinger,

Ys, I erased all the surface details on my T-28s. The Heller kit kasi represents the Fennec (French Trojan), so besides the fact that some of the raised details are wrong, it also has additional armor plating on the forward fuselage. These are the bulged panels you see near the nose. This is not present in PAF T-28s, so you will have to shave or sand them down flush to the surface.

Like Bistro said, the details are quite heavy, especially the rivets. So erasing all details is in order.

You will have to replace the canopy as well. The canopy provided by Heller is for the early T-28As. High Profile. Mas maporma ang PAF T-28s so they were fitted with the low profile (parang mag wheels, hehehe) canopies. Im not sure if they are still available, but there are afttermarket vac-form low profile canopies for the T-28. I think Esoteric and/or Squadron came out with these.

Heres the hard part: Underneath the wings you will find an oval bulge on either side. Again, this is not present in PAF T-28s. You will have to cut them off. Problem is, you cant shave or sand them, since the bulges are hollow. What I did was to saw off each bulge, and re-attach them flush over the hole that was created by cutting them off. Putty will get rid of the remaining gaps.

Ill try to gather some pics of the PAF T-28 and Ill send them to you. Ill ask Bigman if he also has collections.

My T-28 kits are still with my gallery yata?

Hope this helps!

did you make your fuselage smooth? so all raised detail must be sand off.

i also noticed in your models that your model doesnt have the trapiz (triangular piece)between the front and back seat. does our A/C doesnt have them? what model is our T-28?

Klinger,

Uuy! Promoted ka na! Libre ka rin! Hehehe!

Yes, I sanded the entire surface smooth, rescribed the panel lines and using the same tool (needle clamped on an XActo handle), I lightly punched in the rivets one by one.

The PAF had T-28As (but, I understand, with the low profile canopies), and T-28Ds.

You must be referring to the ejection seat warning triangle. Some of our T-28Ds were fitted with the Yankee type ejection seat, which warranted the installation of the warning triangle. But the fittings of the Tora-Toras varied. Some had bucket seats, others had ejection seats. Still others, oddly, had an ejection seat at the front, and bucket seats at the back.

yes buck, promoted na ulit ako, beernuman na ulit. hirap maging marino.
i was referring to the triangular thing placed on top of sunshield of back seat instrument, reaching the top of the canopy.
kawawa naman yun mga piloto natin, kailangan litiral na tumalon sa eroplano kung babagsak na ito.

Klinger,

Hes a lucky guy, indeed. The thing is, most of our pilots wouldnt jump or eject out of a plane and instead try to save it. Thats probably why your Ninong still landed that Trojan despite the fact that its engine konked out.
