Jeremy,

Heres what I do:

I put some of the gooey oil paint onto a palette (actually, takip lang ng Pringles or instant cup coffee, pina-sosyal ko lang, hehehe), and then i put paint thinner onto it an mix up the two. The ratio of oil paint vs. thinner will vary depending upon the wash you desire.

If you want a heavy wash, the ratio would be something like 60% thinner to 40% oil up to 70-30. If you want a light wash, the ratio would be in the ballpark of 80% thinner to 20% oil or even 90-10.

Remember, though, the thinner you will use to dilute the oil paint can also harm the enamel base paint you use. So apply cautiously. Or better yet, use lacquer or acrylic as base coat.

Hope this helps.

Tanker,

Sige na nga. Ill just go with Rab's previous partner. The blonde. That way, I could order her around. "Luhod!" Hehehe!

Jeremy,

You can use any hardware paint thinner. But since you used an enamel base, apply the wash sparingly so it wont dissolve the enamel base paint. O kaya, apply a thin coat of Tamiya acrylic clear on your model (but i-check mo muna since that may also affect the enamel base coat).

I agree to the previous posts...

Be very careful in washing with thinner when you have an enamel base coat.....Make sure the base has dried, kse bka mare-liquify ulit....Bka maghalo....

Also, when applying, make sure na wla yung prang nag-a-accumulate na thinner sa isang part nung model, it can pretty well melt off the base coat kpag natuyo cya...You'll end up having the base color of the plastic (or the primer color you used...)visible dun sa natuyong part, and the pigments of the oil paint form around it....Prang "na-agnas", as I call it....XP

Good Luck!

Sorry, Buck. As of last season, she's now a Lt. Col. :-)

But not to worry, you can catch up.

Ah medyo may sabit yata, First of all yung oil tubes usually ay may parang excess oil na humuhiwalay sa pigment. Better mix them well out of the tube. I think you just used the oil seeping out and mixed it with thinner. I'm not sure really if my assumption is correct but when your mixture dries it would look like wrinkly and crack, but it depends on how much you put into it.

What I do is put a small amount of oil paint in a saucer or anything really. Then I try to refine the paint with a spatula type thing, in my case a custom shaped popsicle stick. This is in case of any lumps in the paint and mix the oil and pigment well. I then pour a certain amount of enamel thinner. The amount of oil paint and thinner depends on how big or how weathered yould like it to be. Then with a wide brush, just brush it all over the model genourously.

Other guys have different methods. This works for me.

I squeeze an amount of oil paint into a palette, then add thinner...(yung ordinaryo lng..sayang Tamiya Thinner e....for me it works just as great....) Depende na lng sa job na gagawin mo, or sa personal taste mo kung gano karami yung thinner.... I mix them together, (kse minsan yung pigments nagse-settle sa ilalim, so i mix them to keep them suspended in the thinner....), then apply it to the model....

This is what I do.

Good Luck!!
