On the subject of modelling injuries, I once almost cut a section of my finger off with a pair of scissors while trying to cut some skewers for railings in a house.
But how can you rip out a fingernail!!!
OUCHIES!!!

this topic remind me off 2 modelling-related accidents........

1. i was tyring to open the turret of my DML Js-2..i think i want to scratbuild the interior but i have already cemented the turret...i took my trusted scribber..scribb along the seam line....then i took my trusted hobby knife cut it open. with i think max pressure....sudenly, the knife sliiped and landed in my palm.......about 1 inch hole deep,,,almost see my bone..
4 stiches........

2. i was cutting the plastic sheet (the thick on...) with my knife...while cutting straight line, guided by a thick metal ruler, the knife when offguide...and cut my index finger almost half...

what make these accident weird is they happen when i not using my glove...usually when cutting large object, i would wear my thrusty industrial grade leather glove........

That reminds me of the time when i was a kid, I was riding my bicycle without any shoes on, and my foot slipped and my big toe went into the gears, and losing a big corner of it in the process. anyway, get well soon

ouch

i had my right thumb crushed in a door when i was a kid and lost my nail i think i had about 28 stitches and once i was cutting some plasticard with a new scalpel and it slipped near the end, and because i was pressing really hard whammed right into my left thigh to the hilt - i just sat there with this scalpel sticking out of my leg - it hurt but was kinda funny afterwards

good luck with your wedding (careful how you cut the cake!)

remind me not have you guys show me how to cut parts! Just kidding of course. I have had more than my fair share of "oooopes" in my life. Had a new #11 bladed knife roll off of the table unseen and promptly deposit itself to the hilt in the top of my foot. The folks from Riverdance and Lord of the dance had nothing on the moves I put on. Hope you heal quickly and with no complications. "Q"

ouch, I have done that a couple times, when you slice your finger almost in half. and when I was like 9 I was playing with plastic bottles by sliding them through a stick and burning them, and I don't remember how, but a bunch of it fell on the back of my hand. I had a lot of knee injuries due to BMX, and losing half the skin in my hands, and knocking myself out, whenever I think of the dangers of modeling I remember that they compare in no way to the dangers of BMX

Guys, if you are going to hurt yourself, do it like I did. Any where from the waist on down, well except for you know I am just now going back to work, have been off for 4 model filled months :-) She who must be obeyed is just tickled that I am finally going to be out of the house and give her some peace and quiet.

That must really hurt... I pray for your hasty healing....

Accidents do happpen....They can be avoided, but due to neglect, they still occur.

Now that everyone mentioned it, I remember back when i was 6 years old, I tried to do a stunt by jumping from a moving tricycle, I tripped and had my face hit ground first....But that was not the end of it....I was still holding on to the tricycle, so I got dragged a few meters...(sort of like "sanding" with a very rough grit...an asphalt road at that.....)Face got bandaged for weeks. Now I have this small scar on my left cheek.....T_T

I sympathize...Speedy recovery!

I can fully sympathize with you Mahross, I've torn the fingernails from my 2nd and 3rd fingers on my right hand when I was younger.

Had a 3 inch gash on the back of my hand which required 8 stiches. Sick bit is you could see the bone and Cartillage.........I felt sooo sick when I saw it......

Put my right hand through a pain of glass, lots of blood.

Dragged for 17 metres when I came off my bike but caught my left leg inbetween the Frame, gear and rear wheel. the gear sliced the back of my leg pretty good.....

Come to think of it I'm a bit of a cluts really...lol

Anyway thats enough of that of that

Congratulations on the Wedding, as said before be careful how you cut the cake! lol

CA works well for deep cuts, and you can continue modelling......
LOL....... LMAO
Over the past years had the knife in the foot, knife in the leg,
now all my knives are those new types, that have the anti-roll feature.
Took off finger tips, cuts to the bone, Ca fingers together, and to many parts,
Aw the fun of modelling,
Good thing I don't do wood working, I'd have no fingers or toes left.

I didn't realize modeling had such a high risk of injury and element of danger. Maybe that's why I'm so attracted to it. It's the thrill of completing a project unscathed....of course I haven't really completed a project quite yet....

Maybe we could issue a "purple heart" for modeling injuries with a photo gallery...

(No disrespect intended for actual Purple Heart recipients...)
