I noticed that with all these campaigns on Armorama many of you have several kits being built at the same time?

1) How many and what projects do you have going simultaneously?

We have had a number of discussion about your unbuilt stash. If any of you are like me you don't use all the accessories in a kit.

2) How many partial kits are left in your stash because you are saving the accessories? Or do you put them into one big box?

Current projects as of today

  • Wooden DC-3- just for the fun of it.
  • Warriors What's Cookin vignette
  • Tamiyas Krupp Protz - diorama bound
  • Revells P61
  • home made spray box

Partial kits - I'm a bit different - I remove all the unused pieces and store them by Axis Allies, figure, AFV, AC, then kinda component based. I've got a fishing tackle box full.

Sadly - I've ballooned to over 20 subjects in-progress! That stresses me out! I'll be reducing that number by wrapping them up 'cause it isn't fun to have all that happy plastic sitting around unattended to!

Here’s what I have going, not counting things I have completely given up on:

Hobbycraft T-72: Was supposed to a fun relaxing build. Rapidly turned into a total nightmare. The metal axle for the rear end didn’t come close to fitting anything in the box. Some surgery is going to have to be performed. Got mad and set it aside, for now. This thing has a “Sphere of Frustration, Radius 10 feet” spell on it. If I had failed my save it would be in the trash.

AFV Club M102: For the “Incoming” campy. Taking my time and it is coming along nicely.

Tammy King Tiger, Ardennes: Have most of the lower hull and suspension finished. This kit is a dream. Fits great. No problems. When I go upstairs for the night I shake this kit at the T-72 and mutter something about “Why couldn’t you be more like the King here…”

I guess you can tell from the list that I specialize, in anything 1/35th scale.

Almost forgot the DML Hummel that is getting the whole treatment, Fruils, PE etc. My first attempt at this aftermarket stuff and am really taking my time.

Thanks for asking!

The list of my ongoing projects can be made very long:

2 Roden Gloster Gladiators (painting started, enging assembled on one of the kits).
1 A.M. Yak-1 (started the painting)
1 Hasegawa Bf-109 (kit built, avaiting painting)
1 Hasegawa Typhoon (fusulage glued together)
2 Hasegawa Spitfire (started painting)
1 Tamiya Spitfire (fusulage assembled, new wings attached)
1 Airfix Spitfire (started painting, some cockpit parts assembled)
1 Hasegawa Buffalo (built and painted, some markings left)
2 Tamiya Buffalos (started painting, started on converting one of the kits to do a Finnish Buffalo)
2 Tamiya Modern US infantry figure (both assembled, and some painting done)
1 Tamiya M113 OIF (started assembly, road wheels attached)
2 Tamiya Bradleys (assembled roadwheels)
1 Tamiya Challenger (working with the suspension)
1 Tamiya Humvee (chassi assembled)

No wonder I never manage to finish anything with all of these projects going on...

Well I've got several uncompleted kits going right now, some I'm working actively on, some not.

I've got a Tamiya Universal Carrier going for the Overlord Campaign. I've got the Carrier pretty well done but I'm working on the figures and the dio base.

The Airfix 1/600 HMS Warspite for the Warships of the Atlantic Campaign. This is my favorite ship but I'm not thrilled about this kit. I still have to mount it to the base then finish up the superstructure. I just can't get it to look the way I'd like it to look so I'm procrastinating big time on it.

The Tamiya 1/700 USS Indianapolis that I'm making as the USS Portland for the Unsung Sisters Campaign. I've started painting the hull and main deck. This will be my first attempt at P.E and I've just ordered a Warships Pictorial for it to have more info on where to place things.

The Italeri 1/35 Priest backdated to 1942 using parts from the Tamiya M3 Lee for the Incoming campaign. I've only started to dry fit the Tamiya parts onto the Italeri hull so this is barely started.

I've also got two wingy thingys, a 1/144 C47 and a 1/144 B17, that I've built, and started to paint but lost interest in. I'll finish them up one day.

I saw your crack about the Avs on my post about getting 3 stars. i'm sure it really breaks your heart seeing them lose like this. My wife is from Detroit but she's like me, choses to root for the home team.

Well I just finished my Tamiya Me-109E3 and dropped it off for display at my local hobby shop ( Metzler's ) I am now taking it easy with a quick and simple OOB Tamiya 222. I have about 20-25 in the stash at the moment (mixed bag of 48th props, 72nd jets and 35th armor.) I limit myself to only one kit going at a time as I feel like I never get anything done otherwise. I also tend to loose focus if I am one more that one project as I tend to stop at a difficult spot and move to something else.

Finishing off my Abrams for the OAID Campaign & starting on the Italeri LAV-25 for the Incoming Campaign. I think this is all that I can handle.

I always build one kit at a time, I just can't work on something else if I'm not finished with one. no wait, I 'm always doing figures in between the kits, you know, oils take long to dry, and I can take a couple days.
as for all the extra part, I just throw everything in a big box and put it in my closet. there is all that remains from a kit, including the sprues and the instructions, extra decals go in a bag that I keep in a dry place

Man - just TOO many to list. I have the excuse that several are for customers however, so I don't feel so bad about it! It's just too boring to work on a single subject for 30-40 hours without some switching around! If nothing else, I build a lot of "reserve" figures while waiting for other projects and subassemblies to dry...
