Don't know whether the following will be of any use to anybody other than myself who has an strange obsession for tweaking modern infantry 1:35 weapons. Anyway here goes, I was looking to add silencers to some of my Special forces M16A2's and pistols so I came across 2 possible alternatives. For the MP 5 and pistols you can use graphite pencils refills that are used for mechanical pencils. The larger one (normal pencil size) isn't too bad for the MP 5 while the thinner one (0.5 mm diam.) is good for pistols.
1.0 mm. diameter or so copper wires cut with a hacksaw to avoid flattening the edges can be used for M 16 and M 4's. Cut desired length stick on guns and paint. For even finer detail for the detail junkies the graphite refills can be given grooves by using a sharp blade placed lightly on the refill and the refill rolled slightly. Like I said its a strange obsession.

You can do the same thing with small diameter plastic rod too.

If styrene is your material of choice, I would highly reccommend that you use Plastruct rod as it is perfectly round. Evergreen rod, especially in the smaller diameters is NOT round.

DML also sells an "M-16 Family" which has a ton of different variants. One piece has a built in silencer.

Which set is that, with the modern weapons. I've been looking for a kit with those weapons for a long time.

Cacman besides DML as mentioned by the guys, you can also get some guns over at Italeri which does a modern light support weapon set somewhat like DML's modern light support weapons with the addition of Colt 45, Luger, Takarov and Beretta pistols and a couple of AK-47's and M16's thrown in. The moulding comes pretty close to DML.

The Italeri pistols look good. Their rifles and MGs are underscale and anarexic with little detail compared to DML items. If you have the choice, go with the DML weapons sets. They are awesome.
