Hi,

Those of you with spraybooths, I am about to buy one. Probably the non-Badger one from MicroMark. It is by Artograph.

I need it to suck away lacqueres and Tenex, etc.

Those of you with a paintbooth, I would really like to know what you have, if you are happy with it, and how well it performs.

Healthfully,

Fred

I got one from Harbor Freight Tools - and I love it. I use it principally because I thin and clean with lacquer thinner. This unit's motor is quite powerful and sucks the fumes away deftly. I really shudder to think what I was doing to my lungs and brain matter before I got it...

I highly recommend a spray booth for those who paint indoors - regardless of the brand you choose.

do I need one for painting only in acrylics?, I don't think those have the strong smell of lacquers.

I built one of my own, to save me some money and it works great! I only spay with acrylics, but I think it's still a good idea, plus I can cover up my booth to keep the dust off the model while it dries....

Hi Matt,

Impressive rig! Is it as low to the floor as it appears?

Are your fans sealed? Where did you get them? How much?

Another method of building a paint booth is to find a range hood. What you would find over your kitchen stove.

All you have to do is build the side and back walls (and front door if you desire) under the range hood. Viola....one paint booth.

You can do some things to upgrade it as well, add in a brighter light (range hoods usually have a light.....but is to see what you are cooking....not necessarily bright enough for models) You can add tubing to carry the fumes away.

Also, using furnace filters, you can make a filtration system so that there is virtually no smell! Just remember that every filter you add, reduces your fan's suction power.

Don't spend your money. Make it yourself. You have enough reference pics for that here..
