Hello all,

Just found a great tool for removing the sprues from parts. Nailclippers! Simply angle them vertically for a perfect cut to get rid of the unwanted plastic.

I know it sounds daft but they really do work well!

Best Wishes

Oh yeah, they work great. Only problem is that they tend to dull kinda fast....(Course, I also use on my nails....) Thanks for your time.

I have used them for years to cut roadwheels off the sprues. They leave a nice clean edge without flat-spotting the wheel.

Private Muzz if you watch, the straight toenail clippers do the best job out of all of them, the ones with the curved cutters, now they don't get near as close to the piece as the straight ones do. So try to remember that when your picking up a new set of toenail clippers, that way you got a dual funtion device.

Hi Guys,

Thanks for the feedback to my post.

I thought it was just me that got funny looks from the wife! :-)

I am impressed with the job they do.

Best Wishes

nail clippers work, but they do tend to dull fast, i bought this 10$ 'doohicky' that is used for cutting off small parts, come in handy, i'd say it already paid for itself

My Mother had to have a special pair that cost every bit that much, and more, but they worked good for her, but they don't do a bit good for cutting sprue, that is like the K-9 clippers they have the loop over the end that make them useless to, or at least the two pair I have are that way, then I have several toe nail clippers, some with the curved cutters which aren't so good on cutting sprue, then there is the straight cutters, now they cut so close there is hardly any clean up.
