With the AMPS 2020 show being moved moved to Danbury, CT, September 24-26, 2020, due to COVID-19 precautions, there's no reason to stop building, painting, weathering or tweaking your builds for this event. The AMPS 2020 Show Chair and other officers are continuing to monitor state and local government developments and updates on openings, restrictions and policies affecting gatherings and similar events resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic. AMPS has 'boots on the ground' in contact with the hotel where the show will be held, to keep us informed as to the hotel's regulations regarding health initiatives and guidelines as they prepare to open for business. While the hotel is closed until August 1st, they are still taking reservations for the show. As of this announcement, the show is still scheduled to take place with a grateful thanks to the Northeast Military Modelers Association (NMMA) for sacrificing ARMORCON this year, and allowing the AMPS 2020 international show to be held instead. AMPS Central Pennsylvania is still the main host and has continued to keep its efforts focused on making AMPS 2020 the best armor show in North America despite the current circumstances we are all experiencing as a result of this pandemic.

Hotel Reservations: The reservation system for AMPS 2020 at the Danbury Crown Plaza is set up and you can now book rooms for the AMPS 2020 international show. Visit the AMPS homepage (amps-armor.org) for more information, instructions and a link to the hotel to make those reservations. You can book rooms at the special convention rate of $99 per night, by going to the AMPS Website and click on the link provided. This link will take you directly to the Danbury Crown Plaza reservation page. When you are on the hotel's site, enter your arrival and departure dates, the number of people and number of rooms, and click the "Book" button. You will then be able to choose either a single king or two double beds room.

AMPS Pre-registration: AMPS pre-registration is now open and you can register all model entries for this year's show. Pre-register your entries and get back to the bunker to finish up those ongoing projects and maybe even a 'shelf queen' or two. For those of us with more modeling time on our hands, now would be a great time to finish up those builds needing just a little more tweaking before entering them into a show.

Pre-registration closes Sunday, September 13, 2020.

Category Sponsorships: AMPS still needs volunteers to step up and support the show through category sponsorships. Go to the AMPS homepage and select the "View Details" link in the International Convention banner. Scroll down to the Show Sponsor banner and select "View All Sponsors." Review the category sponsor list and consider sponsoring a category or perhaps your AMPS chapter sponsoring a category or two. Sponsoring the "Best of's" and individual categories directly supports AMPS by allowing funds otherwise designated for sponsorships, to be used in other significant areas in an effort to put on a great show for all attendees. And the individual award recipients certainly do appreciate it. Reach out to Glen at [email protected] for more details.

Raffle Donations: We are in need of and still accepting any contributions for the AMPS raffle. "Raffle King'" Frank Ciccarella, is busy coordinating with our show vendors and manufacturers to help make this raffle table even better than last year and your donations will make this a big success. New condition kits, figures, aftermarket and conversion sets, tools and reference materials would be most appreciated by AMPS, Frank and raffle ticket buyers. If you cannot make it to the show this year, you can mail them to Frank at:

Frank Ciccarella
1438 E. Haven Lane
Olathe, Kansas 66062

If you plan on bringing your donation to the show, email Frank at: [email protected] and let him know what you will be bringing to donate.

Until the next AMPS 2020 announcement, stay safe, wash those hands and model on!

Cheers!

chuck
