BMW on a training range

A while ago I came across a nice little dio on the t'interweb that used a BMW as a shot up target on a range with what I assume were SF operators. Can't for the life of me remember where. Hoping folks on here might be able to point me in the direction.

A friend of mine had an aquaintance who was possibly not always on the legal side of the law. That aquaintance had brough his beat up old car to the shotting range and he and some others in the shooting club used it as target, avoiding the engine, wheels, gas tank et.c to keep it driveable.
When he drove it home he got stopped by the cops, they got REALLY curious and inquisitve when they saw all the bullet holes in the doors. They also asked him to open the trunk .... which contained some stuff that did not belong to this guy and it didn't belong to any of his friends either. The truth was that the stuff actually belonged to other people and some of them had actually reported it stolen...
Shouldn't have used that car for target practice without removing the cargo first ....

Not sure about BMWs as targets, but junker BMWs, Volkswagens the occasional Mercedes were used as “demonstrator” vehicles in our local training area (LTA) in Germany in the 70s. We’d use them to “demonstrate“ what a tank or recon vehicle could do to an automobile.

I've been lucky enough to be shooting/blowing up vehicles since 1983. We generally use whatever is donated/confiscated (think Iraq) unless we're training on a particular vehicle, for obvious reasons.
I don't know remember what this was, but we certainly shot the hell out of it:




We've also trained with Gryphon Group - some of the coolest training out there as far as civilian run training goes.

If I dig through my old print photos from demo training at Ft. Devens in '83 with 10th Group, I might be able to show what a 1/4 inch steel platter charge (1 lb. of C4) will do to a pickup. From the front grill all the way through the truck and out the back of the bed.

Shooting cannons and cars all in the same week - life is good.







No BMW's were harmed during this training.
