Yo, fresh from the news on Swedish state radio today.
Background: In Sweden we celebrate the arrival of spring on the last day of April (Walpurgis if you are old fashioned). College/University students are especially keen on this since the school year is almost finished (only a little over a month left). The day after, 1:st of May, is also a national holiday (Labour Day around here).

Now there is this wretched corona business ...
The council in the city of Lund (ancient university town in southern Sweden, founded back in A.D.990 or so, over 1000 years old by now) have decided that there will be no student festivities, picknicks, spontaneous gatherings, random groups of students in the city park this year. Nada, zilch, zero, nothing, ok, you get the drift ...
They thought that appealing to the students common sense would be useless (student + beer does not equal common sense), fencing off the whole area was a lot of trouble and the students would probably get in anyway.
So, what could be done about the situation?
Someone has a bright idea!
The lawns need to be fertilised anyway so they might as well do it now, beginning of spring, before the growth season really gets going et.c.
Pelletised fertiliser? Nah!! In these modern times we should go with something biodynamic. Compost? Nah! Not enough nutrients per ton, would leave lumps on the surface for months to come, needs to be worked into the soil by tilling, need something more potent. Something with more "oomph" to it.
Hmmmmm?? Clever person has another bright idea.
Byproduct from chicken farms! Chickenshit! Tons of it!
To be spread all over the lawns before thursday afternoon
Wanna have a picknick? Sure thing dude! Pick any part of any lawn and enjoy your picknick, don't blame us afterwards ....

/ Robin

We had chickens for decades and I can think of one thing worse than chicken dung.... goose crap. They should let flocks of geese graze where they don't want people to gather. In fact just let the geese run around town. They'll drive the people away. Mean, violent, noisy, pooping everywhere. Not swedes but geese, and americans.

The species of goose with the Swedish name Kanadagås (Branta canadensis, Canada Goose) is an invasive species around here. They are almost everywhere. Open fields and some water = Canada Goose.
Goose crap keeps people away, that's for sure.
We can't hunt them either because of the risk of shooting some of the other, protected, species of goose. Hard to tell them apart when they fly overhead. Down on the ground or on the water would be safe though. Raiding their nests could be an option.
Someone mentioned that they don't taste good either so there is little interest from potential poachers.
Maybe mink farmers would be interested ....

You can hunt the things up here and I've had goose that hasn't tasted very good. But I've read its how it's prepared that makes the difference. We always had a few geese, they make great watchdogs and would warn us if raccoons, coyotes or something else was after the chickens.
