I apologize if it is obvious and I have continued to overlook it, but is there a way to search posts for specific items? The only search bar I see searches the whole site. Thanks!

If you are already viewing a post or a thread (assume a lengthy one) then Ctrl-F (standard in browsers) works for searching within the displayed page. If the thread or sequence of posts goes over multiple pages you will need to manually displa the next page of the thread and then search within that page. The Ctrl-F feature in the browsers searches the page that the browser is currently showing so it will find any piece of text matching the search string.

Example: Using Ctrl-F to search for the string: Post it
would find the occurence in this sentence but also the occurence in the header: "Having a problem with the site? Post it here."

What about searching through the sale forum for a specific kit?

I would try searching the whole site and then checking the results manually.
Maybe narrow the search for the kit by including sale, selling, trade and other words that indicates sell, buy, trade et.c.
