When I worked overnight shifts as a security guard a stash of his books in the building library got me through.

Some of his crazier more esoteric Dirk Pitt novels were fun reads.

That waa the one that started me on his novels. They where good clean fun readings and are still today. Sadly they only made one movie from his novels. And while "Raise the Titanic" was decend it, like the "Hunt for Red October" movie missed parts of the story

They also made "Sahara" with Matthew McConaughey which was pretty bad. I loved reading his books, from Dirk Pitt to Kurt Austin and Juan Cabrillo. Good fun in all. He'll be missed.

Sahara was great book ! but once Hollywood got their hands on it they wrecked it. I'd LOVE to tour his car collection ! It was great how he'd incorporate a car that was usually featured on the back cover into the book. I wonder if he could claim it on his taxes as "research material".
The CSS Hundley, the Galveston and a couple of other ships were discovered through his diligent research.
My favorite quote from him was, "I hope that when I'm on my death bed the bank phones and tells me that I'm over drawn by $10".
Clive, I hope you got your wish.
Favorite book was "Inca Gold".
