We are less than 90 days out till the largest showing of AFV models and modelers in North America, when the AMPS 2020 International Show gets underway from May 7-9, 2020, at the Radisson Hotel, Camp Hill, PA. If you enjoy armor modeling, you don't want to miss this event! Plenty of models on display, plenty of vendors and some great seminars, free to paid attendees. There is still time to get a hotel room at the AMPS special room rate where the show will be held, but the rooms are going fast. Don't wait. Go to the AMPS homepage at amps-armor.org and use the link to reserve your room online.

Pre-registration: AMPS 2020 Show pre-registration is now open until Thursday, April 30th. While we are all hunkering down in the man cave getting ready to get back into the swing of the springtime show circuit, now is a great time to pre-register for the AMPS 2020 show with all those upgrades and details added to your builds fresh in your mind. Pre-registering your entries for the show on the AMPS homepage (amps-armor.org) removes that rushed feeling you get when you're quickly filling out model entry forms at the registration table followed by the nagging feeling you get after dropping the forms off that you forgot to list a few things on your model entry forms as you stroll through the vendors area. Pre-registration is a real time saver for the modeler and removes that last thing you've got to do before enjoying the vendor room experience...well except for those arriving and having been on the road for the last 6 hours and consumed 18 cups of coffee.

Vendors/Show Schedule/Seminars: As usual, AMPS has a great lineup of vendors and great seminar topics. Visit the AMPS homepage at amps-armor.org and select the link (in bold type): "Click here for more details and information about the show theme" and you can view all the current vendors planning on attending, the weekend's show schedule, seminar topics and speakers, as well as a list of categories and their sponsors. And speaking of sponsors...

Sponsorships: AMPS Marketing Director, Glen Martin is coordinating the AMPS "Best of" and category sponsorship drives again this year. Review the category sponsor list and consider sponsoring a category or perhaps your AMPS chapter sponsoring a category or two. Sponsoring the "Best of's" and individual categories directly supports AMPS by allowing funds otherwise designated for sponsorships, to be used in other significant areas in an effort to put on a great show for all attendees. And the individual award recipients certainly do appreciate it. Reach out to Glen at [email protected] for more details.

Raffle donations: The legendary AMPS show raffle has always been a show pleaser...well for the lucky winners anyway. Proceeds from the raffle go to the AMPS treasury in supporting current and future shows and preservation projects. Now would be a great time to do some 'spring cleaning' of the current stash. Look through your stash and consider donating to the big AMPS raffle. "Raffle King'" Frank Ciccarella, our AMPS Raffle Coordinator, is behind the scenes coordinating with show vendors and manufacturers for kits, books and tool donations to make this year's AMPS raffle better than last year's raffle. But AMPS still needs your help. We are looking for donations of new condition kits, figures, aftermarket and conversion sets, tools and reference materials would be most appreciated by AMPS, Frank and most certainly, the lucky winner. If you cannot make it to the show this year, you can mail them to Frank at:

Frank Ciccarella
1438 E. Haven Lane
Olathe, Kansas 66062

Or, if you plan on bringing your donation to the show, email Frank at: [email protected] and let him know what you will be bringing to donate.

Volunteers:Show Setup/Take down: In order to put on a successful show of this size and quality, it takes many people both behind the scenes and in plain view. While the jobs of some of the 'behind the scenes' folks are slowly beginning to wind down, the need for the 'front line' folks will soon be upon us and we can sure use the help. Visit the AMPS homepage (amps-armor.org) and go to the sign up page where you will find a list of jobs that need someone to do.

Till the next AMPS 2020 Show announcement, model on!

Cheers!

chuck
