I have an M911 Tractor Unit in really dirty Gulf colour, M747 trailer in U. S. Military green and an M60A2 in Desert Grey. Everything is all weathered up although the tank is reasonably clean just really dusted up and road wear.
The idea being the transport unit haven't had the time to repaint anything and the tank is just being moved to a base where it'll be repainted.
This is all State Side.
Any opinions on that welcome?

The only issue I see is the tractor. US vehicles were not painted overall sand until 1990 for OP Desert Shield/Storm. The M60A2 was long gone by then. A better option for the truck would be in either overall green or MERDC to better fit the time-frame of the M60A2.

Hi, I've checked the history of each piece and they were all In Desert Storm.

The 1st Marine Division M60A1s fitted with ERA package and 2 USAF M60A3s used by EOD troops of 401st TFW (P) based in Qatar were in Desert Storm 1991 but no M60A2s.
The M60A2 was retired from active service in 1982, most were rebuilt to A3 standard others to AVLB and M728 CEV.

The only option you have is if this is a museum piece being moved to another location in which case all the vehicles would be relatively clean.

I also refer to HeavyArty's comment January 18th 2018 on a thread to do with the HobbyBoss M911, M747 Kit. Which i have. The artwork on the box shows the M911 and M747 in Desert colour, he even mentions the M60A2 being used.
I'm presuming he was in the forces with a HeavyArty tag?
So??

I think Luciano's idea sounds pretty good - only issue is if you have it as stateside vehicles you would probably need to repaint the tractor unit to match the trailer and then repaint the M60 to the correct year and have it painted as a restoration display vehicle for said musuem .... yous till have a great option there.

If I put M60A2 in ref. to ODS, it was a typo. The M60A2 was retired in the early '80s as Littorio stated.

So basically to stay on track with authenticity, I have to repaint my M911? Where would I get a new set of decals for the tractor unit. I have all the trailer decals.
Or would you guys let me off the authentic green?

I think every modeller should be allowed a bit of artistic freedom unless your trying to replicate an exact vehicle .... If your happy doing it that way.... Go for it

Thank you,I very nearly had it in my mind to repaint the tractor unit.
I just thought vehicles having been returned to the U.S. might not have all been repainted as has happened here in the UK.
The troop just picks available vehicles and sends them out on the detail.

If you want it to be historically correct, then yes a repaint is in order. Like the others have said though, it is your model and you are the only one who has to be satisfied by it. If you want to leave it as is, so be it.

I think I found the post you are refering to. It was not in referance to Operation Desert Storm (ODS) M911s, but the M911 in general throughout its service life from the late '70s to mid '90s. The M60A2 was carried by the M911 C-HET during the late '70s to about '82 when the M60A2 was retired. During that time, the M911 was either in overall green or MERDC, as the M60A2 was. The M911 was not painted sand until ODS ('90-'91).

My response in the above-linked post:
"The M911 C-HET was the predecessor to the current M1070 HETS. It was used from the late '70s until the mid '90s. It carried all sorts of armored vehicles that were in use at the time. It could have any of the vehicles tanknick22 listed or earlier vehicles such as the M60A3, M60A2, etc."
