Hello everyone on Aeroscale & Shipwrights, I only usually go into Kitmaker or armorama and i want to pose a question for you flying and floaty people it concerns a campaign i am trying to get started based out of Armorama, but it has good potential for you guys to participate as well and you would be very very welcome, basic details are below, and the proposed campaign is called "Golden Memories"

Edited copy below from my Main thread for concept plan and rules

Has there ever been a campaign for modellers with ex military service to make models of the vehicles they have served in ?? it would be across the board, land based, aircraft and sea going vessels. But you would of had to of served and spent real time on that piece of equipment.
I thought it would be a cool idea as it would bring together people with the same passion for models from so many countries, and so many different branches of those military forces.

Edited Section from original post;

Here are the Rules/Conditions:
1. Build any vehicle/ship/aircraft you, your relatives/ancestors or a close friend have crewed/served in with a small back story.
2. All scales.
3. All eras.
4. No previously started kits.
5. Dios welcome.
6. Aftermarket add-ons welcome.
7. Build blogs are encouraged, but build for this campaign only.
8. At least two in-progress pictures posted in the campaign thread.
9. At least two pictures of the completed model in the campaign gallery.

Proposed start date: 01 Feb 2020 – End Date 01 September 2020
End date may be extended if needs arise.

cheers, John

I think the end needs to be extended now but that’s just me.

That wouldnt be an issue Ryan, I am happy to go with the general consensus and extend the end date. what would you think better ? a full 12 month date ?

On a side not, this was meant to be in the Aeroscale site to include those guys as well, but it ended up here for some reason. the main campaign thread will be the "Golden memories" one. I am trying to get Robin to move it if he is able

I think extending it a decade might help but you do you.

I assume you mean start 01 Feb 2020 not 2010 - end 01 Sept 2020 not2010.

Life was better in 2010, eyesight for instance ....

Anyways, I have posted in the Campaign forums of Aeroscale and Model Shipwrights with a link to this thread.
Good luck with the recruiting!

Great idea John, and thanks to Robin for posting in the AeroScale forum!

I have a question. My great uncle served in the 2nd Armored in WWII, but he was in a maintenance unit. No doubt he worked on unit Shermans, but he didn't actually go into battle in them. Would that count? Just out of curiosity.

Another big thanks to Robin ...again lol .... and Michael, yes of course, your great uncle could of been crewed on loads of vehicles; jeeps, trucks, sherman recovery wagons, and as you said, shermans ... the person needn't of seen combat to be just as important as combat troops. This is hopefully going to be about remembering the times or the person.

If anyone is interested in joining then the main thread to follow/use is the "Golden Memories" one

No probs Michael, it can be found on the Kitmaker site or Armorama and ideally if we can it would great if we could get some one with an aircraft or a ship link along for the ride as well.
