Hi guys,

I have a problem with my Tamiya HG III airbrush. When painting, the trigger does not want to return to its starting position. I guess seal rubber has hardened over the years of use.

Anyone have any experience with this type of airbrush?
How to replace seal rubber?

Cannot assist with replacing seals on a Tamiya AB, but perhaps lubricating the airbrush might be any easier answer. Iwata makes a glycerine-based lubricant called Superlube. I put a tiny amount of that on the needle and seals of my airbrush after cleaning and it makes a big difference keeping the action moving smoothly.

did you clean it thoroughly. In many cases that is enough to make it work again

It might also be the valve spring (inside part 13/14 in your parts diagram), as they do get "lazy" over time. I'd remove the spring, give it a very slight "stretch" and see if that makes any difference. An old rubber seal that's worn out will tend to dry out and get loose, rather than tight, unless you've exposed it to a substance that causes the seal to swell (lacquer thinner is a prime culprit in that case). If you need to replace the spring, you can try to find a matching spring from one of the on-line airbrush supply stores (not sure if Bear Air is still in business) or go to the manufacturer.
