DO you need a regulator/filter for compressor (to stop water)?

Short answer: YES

Long answer : yes or you can get an inline water trap.

Having been around the world with my compressor and air brush I've been in high humidity and dry climates and ALWAYS got air in my line. It just takes longer in dryer areas. In Korea in the summer I was emptying my water trap about every 10 minutes. In dryer areas I might not need to empty the trap during the session but when I was cleaning up I would always have water in it.

I currently run two water traps, one on the regulator on the compressor outlet (which is in another room) and one on my air brush regulator. A 50ft hose connects the two.

Yes, you need a regulator to be able to adjust pressure and a water trap to trap moisture that may build up in the air hose.

They are sold as separate units or as a combo as seen here:

If you have a regulator and only need a water trap you can get something like this:

Some are airbrush brand dependent.
