I'm working on a M1A1 Abrams from OIF. The "Battle Boards" are square boards with the Skirt numbers on them , mounted to the back of the bustle rack near the SIPS panels. does anyone know , definitively, how they are mounted? Hooks? Zip ties? 550 cord? any help would be cool.

Yes to all. It depended on which vehicle and what the crew had on hand. Most of the Bradleys removed a couple ammo storage boxes on the turret rear and used the bolts from them. Most M1s used the other methods you described to strap them to the bustle rack.
